Technically we've always paid more for evening showings. Matinee prices have been around for decades.

See my post above. The only way this makes sense is if you remove capacity and focus on theaters that actually have demand.Microwave Onions said:
I don't know how my AMC stayed open. And this is in a time when "my" AMC is a good 20-30 minute drive in traffic.
Index pricing makes sense for events that regularly sell out. It seems like some consultant identified the most in-demand seats, without considering that they were the only seats being sold for most showings.

In effect, seats in the front row will be at a lower price while seats in the middle of the theater will be available at a higher price. https://t.co/FUWZaeuK4Z

This seems like a bad move considering how hard it is to get people to theaters at all right now.

You're also glossing over that theater attendance grew along with every other "get me out of the goddam house" industry as we came out of the pandemic.
If you think theater attendance is going to rise year-over-year 2022 to 2023... Well good luck with that.

I mean it's not like ticket prices are going to change in any meaningful way from 2022 to 2023, so an increased/decreased box office in 2023 should tell us everything we need to know.
In this thread there are statements about sequels, reboots and remakes. Gee, I count 4 sequels*. And TexAgs has told me that 65 is gonna suck. D&D looks like garbage to me.Quote:

I love that you are saying that ticket prices won't change in a meaningful way in 2023 in a thread about ticket prices changing in a meaningful way in 2023.
I don't follow Hollywood at all, only been in the theaters maybe 3 times since 2020 (wife and I used to go 1-2 times a month - I know not huge) and even I can understand that numbers are down because or the pandemic.TCTTS said:
