New TMNT trailer!

This thing rules. Love that animation style. Feels like Spider-Verse a bit.

Man, TMNT is such an unlikely property to have such longevity. All for something that started as a goof on Daredevil, intentionally picking the worst possible animal to be a ninja.

This looks like so much fun.

We will see. I remember rolling my eyes after the first teaser trailer for Into the Spiderverse.

The cast list is pretty insane. And if you check out this thread of tweets, they're hitting just about every minor mutant character possible.

Every incarnation of the turtles over the past three decades has been a sad, failed attempt to recapture the height of not only TMNT culture but dare I say, humanity, that came in 1991 with the unleashing of this scene on the world. In the days that followed, mankind was united as one, we cured cancer, everyone threw down their guns, we joined hands and sang "Ninja Rap" from sea to shining sea.

The "lots of mutants" angle is also a weirdly fresh take on TMNT on the big screen. Other movies, as far as I can recall, always focused on the Ninja part, with sometimes another couple of mutants thrown in.

Is the 1990 the greatest movie ever made that was based on a cartoon (no one read the comics)?

Runner up would be Masters of the Universe.

Props to them on casting kids as the turtles as well. I bet that translates well to the characters.

And as far as I can tell, there's no Shredder?

Not as far as I can tell.

Other fertile ground for down the road would be Venus, the female turtle, and fan favorite Metalhead, the robotic turtle.

I'm sure that's the post credit/end tease. Good decision

I'm assuming you're talking about live action only, but I put Bumblebee #1.

Jennika (the new female turtle) has been a great addition to the comics. Would love to see her get added.

Yes. And a good choice. The wrong choice, but still a good one.

I watched TMNT a few months ago for the first time in probably 25 years and thought it was unwatchable. 5th grade me liked it, 43 year old me did not.

It's been a while but I thought it held up okay. It's also pretty much a straight up comic adaptation vs riffing on the cartoon, which seems weird given the cartoon is what drove its popularity.

Raph yelling "Damn!" was edgy as hell for young Alias.

The pinnacle of this movie is when Mr. Strickland from Back to the Future travels back to Eternia by accident and starts lighting up Skeletor's forces with his pump-action shotgun. Pretty sure Cameron stole this for T2.

How long before people freak out of April O'Neil being black. I don't do a whole lot of social media, but I'm sure someone is melting down somewhere lol

I remember loving that scene as a kid and thinking SOTO was way better than the first. Then I grew up and realized an incredible appreciation for the first TMNT movie.

This one looks fun.

Trailer was fun.

Looked like they all had similar personalities as opposed to the old movies with pretty defined differences.

It's still Vanilla Ice's best work to date, as evidenced here. Damn, Michael Gross must have been BROKE.

Donnie way more popular than I would have guessed in this limited sample. Would have thought he would be last.

I think I've watched this trailer like four times now, and it's quickly rocketing up my list of most anticipated movies this summer, which is saying something considering how crowded/awesome this summer is. I really, really love the whole vibe.
