We can all agree that Leo (and Cyclops) are the worst.

I watched a documentary a while back about the production hell of the 1990 film and how Howard the Duck nearly killed this film from being made. How it became an independent project. So much went wrong before it got to theaters...

I'll confess to having Leo as my #1.

But not Cyclops, that's just ridiculous.

At first I rolled my eyes when i saw that there would be another ninja turtles movie, but I actually liked the trailer. I havent seen any of the nickelodeon TMNT stuff before, but this is the first time i felt they actually sounded and acted like teenagers. Considering its part of the series name, you would think previous versions would have done a better job as portraying them as teens rather than young adults.

Dunno why I like Spiderverse but not really digging this animation particularly in the darker parts of the trailer.

I loved and adored the cartoon growing up. Saw the original movies and never saw the Michael Bay crap…..

But this…..I might try to see this one….

Other than the video games, Donatello is 100% the worst ninja turtle.

Maybe personal enjoyment but it'd be very hard for the reviews to be better than Spiderverse. If anything, the reviews will compare it to Spiderverse and state its either as-good or just a notch below it.

Gotcha. I'm sure I'll enjoy both this and Spiderverse. I know you weren't nearly as high on Spiderverse as I was, but if Turtles can beat it, that'd be impressive.

I'm just looking for a good movie. The Turtles traditionally lack a bit of the emotional heft of a Spider-Man, and honestly, that's a good thing. Ridiculous wise-cracking ninja turtles in New York should be bonkers action. It doesn't need to be art.

I do admit that I'm looking forward to this more than I was Spider-verse as well. As badass as the Spider-verse movie have been, this looks to have a level of humor and charm that those movies simply don't have, that I think I'm going to gravitate slightly more toward here, but we'll see.

I'm really excited about this turtles flick. But I think comparisons between it and Spiderverse are sort of shallow and mainly based on the fact that they're both animated. They can absolutely both be good and still different. This turtles movie is the first iteration into a new presentation style with this property and I think that'll drive a lot of excitement and eyeballs. Across the Spiderverse was part II of a trilogy and sort of needed to be more serious and dark in nature to set up the finale next year.

Sorry to nitpick. I really am looking forward to getting some better Ninja Turtles. I just think making direct comparisons is going to do both films a disservice.

Not to mention that the first Spider-Verse film was pretty damn charming (and funny).

I do appreciate the Spider-Verse opened the door for more artistic expression in animated films, not everything has to look like a perfectly lit Disney fairytale. They actually did a bit of that earlier as well on the Hotel Transylvania films, but then Dreamworks has taken this inspiration on a few films like The Bad Guys and more so in Puss in Boots as has Sony in Mitchells vs The Machines (same director as TMNT btw). I'm excited to see where people start pusing animation if the studios will let them.

I unfortunately likely won't get to see TMNT till it hits digital but it looks like a blast, really looking forward to it.
