I saw Tears for Fears open for Hall & Oates at the AT&T Center a few years ago. It was awesome.

I'd say, I Can't Go For That by Hall & Oates…

Read the title at first as "best poop song" and the illusion continued when I saw Never Gonna Give You Up.... I thought, definitely been some deuces in my life that I felt like I was never gonna give up on getting out.

Even narrowing it down to a single MJ song is insanely difficult.

My nomination:

(Edges out Smooth Criminal)

The Best MJ song is easy.

Serious question...

How big were Tears for Fears? My sister absolutely wore the hell out of "Songs from the Big Chair" and i was like 10 or 11 so I barely had any musical taste whatsoever and I feel like I could sing along to any of them, thats how many times I've heard them. As an adult i hear these songs now and I cannot get over how damn good they are. I've gotten more exposed to them via sxm's 1st wave channel, so I'm appreciating them more as an adult and as a music fan. I have no damn clue what the best pop song ever is (It's probably MJ and if it's not it's still probably produced by Quincy Jones) but dang...if there's a quintessential pop sampler platter, I have 0 issues putting one of those Tears for Fears songs on it.

If you're trying to tell me Slash is better than EVH, we're about to throw hands.

That's not at all what I said.

BUT, I prefer Slash when it comes to solos.

Those could still be considered fightin' words.

For my friends it was the album everyone seemed to like but no one actually had.
From that 5 year era, albums like Thriller, Back in Black, Born in the USA and Joshua Tree were way bigger.

I almost said Jump by Van Halen is the greatest pop song, but I feel like Hall & Oates beats them out with I Can't Go For That.

Now comes the funny trivia about that:

When Van Halen kicked Diamond Dave out, the first person they asked to be the new lead singer was NOT Sammy Hagar, it was DARYL HALL!

They ruled the world back then

When I saw them a few years ago, they sounded absolutely amazing. They played a cover of Creep from Radiohead that was the highlight of the set…

I just recently read that. Crazy! Eddie also asked Patty Smyth from Scandal. Even crazier.

The one that stood out to me the most in my life was Hey Ya!. This song was literally on every radio station when it was at its height. I remember hearing it on 102.1 the Edge in Dallas during high school.

First song that came to mind was Billie Jean.

The Kingsmen's Louie Louie inspired:

Boston's More Than a Feeling

Nirvana's Smells Like Teen Spirt
Kurt actually said he wanted to write the greatest pop song ever, Teen Spirit was the song, and he based the song after Louie Louie.

Edit: Here is a video of Nirvana playing More Than a Feeling before starting Teen Spirit, and all that is based off Louie Louie
