Says his Defense Attorney. Which I feel is a pretty decent argument in court.NoahAg said:
On accident, right? Admittedly, I haven't studied what happened. Was there some reason he should have known? Or was he just an actor trusting that those in charge knew what they were doing?

Dude, they still released the Twilight Zone movie after a helicopter accident killed 2 kids and ****ing decapitated Vic Morrow. Those people don't care about lives lost when there is money to be made.
I don't think anyone was convicted. John Landis certainly wasn't.ABATTBQ11 said:The Porkchop Express said:

Yeah, but guys also got convicted over that.
In 1982, Morrow was cast in a feature role in Twilight Zone: The Movie, in a segment directed by John Landis. Morrow was playing the role of Bill Connor, a racist who is taken back in time and placed in various situations where he would be a persecuted victim: as a Jewish man in Vichy France, a black man about to be lynched by the Ku Klux Klan, and a Vietnamese man about to be killed by U.S. soldiers.AgPediRPh said:I don't think anyone was convicted. As far as I'm concerned, this is no different than an amusement park ride operator.ABATTBQ11 said:NoahAg said:

Baldwin basically skipped gun safety 101 and gave no ****s about it on set. His arrogance and willful ignorance were direct contributors.
Look at Keanu in The Matrix and John Wick. He spent weeks training several hours a day on gun handling and safety for each one. Baldwin couldn't be bothered to attend a couple hours of safety meetings, and when he did attend one he was on his phone

If the park and whoever is in charge of inspections say the ride is good to go, they are going to push the button.
They shouldn't be held responsible if the roller coaster goes off the track.
However, Randall Miller was not kicked out of the Directors Guild and is still making movies. Once people found out it was a huge deal at the DGA national meeting in 2020. People were super pissed off at the board. I got hit up to sign a DGA member petition to have him removed because he violated his parole conditions.ABATTBQ11 said:AgPediRPh said:I don't think anyone was convicted. You are right. I was thinking of Midnight Rider, which wasn't finished. A couple of people were charged and took plea deals.

That's a very bad analogy.
The ride operator is told to press a button. Baldwin had no reason to pull the trigger. This was like the ride operator just tapping the button for fun while the ride is being loaded and launching someone without being buckled in because he skipped his training (How hard could it be, right?) and didn't make a final check that ride was good to go. If he'd gone to the training and taken the job seriously, he wouldn't have killed someone.

I honestly don't know. Are actors allowed to unload a gun to check the ammo to make sure it's "dummy" ammo? I could easily see that being a strict no no, as you wouldn't want people unloading and re-loading a gun that's just been prepared by the on-set expert.
