That scene left an impression definitely. Similar to the first Alien bursting out of the guys chest.

How about Rochelle Rochelle? The story of a young woman's erotic journey from Milan to Minsk. I don't think you'd want to take kids to that.

I took my kids to see Cry, Cry Again. First you cry, then you see the dancing, then you cry again.

I wish I hadn't taken the kids to see Sack Lunch.

Total Recall when I was 8 or 9 is the memorable one for me, but we watched tons of movies like that when we were young. . I remember my friends and I being fascinated with the girl with 3 boobs.

Your kids will be fine. They already know all the bad words anyway.

Same age! I'm still searching for the 3 boobied woman.

Dad took me and some older cousins to see Friday the 13th at the drive in. I was 4.

Not my kid, but when I went to see "Inglorious *******s" there was about an 8-year-old kid sitting next to us. Someone in our group asked the mom if she was "sure they were in the right theater" to which she said "yes". They left towards the end of that first scene.

late October 2000 I turned 9 and my mom took me and 8 friends out to see Remember the Titans, but somehow we walked into a theater showing Requiem for a Dream and stayed until the end.

I am happy to say all 9 of us (and my mom) have never touched a single drug in our lives.

I went to one of the early Batman movies (early 90s?)... the one that had a really creepy Penguin character ... in one scene he was spitting up bile.

Bunch a kids in the theater with their parents. Guess they thought it was going to be campy/cartoon-like.

Kids were restless... some crying.

Was not long after that scene that those parents and their kids cleared out.

My mom took my brother and I to see Corvette Summer in 1978 because Luke Skywalker was in it. Annie Potts takes her clothes off in the first 15-20 minutes of the movie. We were 8 and 4 years old.

The next year, my dad took us to see Alien. I didn't sleep for about 4 months after that.

My mom and I watched Poltergeist at home when I was like 5. She quickly ended that, so it was not finished. I was terrified. To this day, I have not watched the entire movie.

Also, my older sister took me to see Jurassic Park in theaters when I was 7. It was my first time going to the cinema. Nowhere near as bad as poltergeist but when my mom found out…she let my sister have it.

At the time, my 5 year old daughter fell asleep on the couch. I decided to start playing Assassins creed Valhalla while she napped. Well she woke up but never said anything. So I played for quite a while never realizing she was watching me chop off heads and stab people in the game. Wife gives me crap constantly about my games.

That's a solid entry.

Between the lax parenting and the heyday of horror films, it's really hard to top those of us who grew up in the early 80s.

Regarding that first Friday the 13th movie, I have a sort-of reverse story for that one - my dad had my sister and I and a bunch of my friends for a weekend. It was getting late on a Saturday in mid-May 1980 and we were heading to Astroworld. When we got there, and I do believe the Astros were playing, Astroworld was only going to be open for another hour, so not really worth what it was going to cost to get 6 people in.

My dad asked what else we could all go do. I suggested going to a movie. For some reason, our go-to theater in those days was the old Palms Twin in Sugar Land (across from the Imperial Sugar plant, now an empty field). It took a while to get out there from the Dome. By the time we arrived, it was dark and both movies had already started. I don't recall what the other movie showing was, but the one that drew my attention was Friday the 13th. I suggested we get tickets for that based on what I'd read about it in movie reviews in the newspaper. We got to our seats with popcorn and drinks just in time to see, I believe it was Kevin Bacon, get an arrow through his neck. We stayed for the entire remainder of the movie.

My dad was more pissed at me than I believe he ever would be. He told me he didn't sleep well after seeing that movie. Even said he went in to the office at 2:30 in the morning one night because he just couldn't sleep. He never took me to another movie he perceived might be "scary" again.

Wanted to expose the young'ns to a little European culture, so I took em to an art house showing of A Serbian Film. The tickets weren't cheap, so of course we stayed for the whole thing, but I probably should have researched before purchasing.

Ouch. I heard that one is definitely not for kids. Some folks say it's not really for adults, either.
I was joking; that movie's not for anyone. I powered through to see what the buzz was about, but it's just glossy shock and I've never seriously recommended it to anyone.

That's silly. If it wasn't for kids, why would they put a clown in the movie?

Looking back, my dad made a lot of poor movie decisions with us. Just to name a few, and I do not remember my age, but probably younger than 13:

Friday the 13th
Leprechaun
True Lies
Any Given Sunday (in theatre)
He Got Game
8MM

To be completely fair, he was just a farmer and didn't own a computer so there was no real research...but still...

Yeah, I had a "friend" when I lived in Killeen when I was 6 who showed me Texas Chainsaw Massacre and convinced me Leatherface lived under a neighbor's house. I didn't add it to the thread because my parents weren't stupid enough to show me that one.

Stripes. Not in the theater but on VHS. We were on vacation and one day got rained out so we rented the movie to watch in the hotel. It's been on TV so many times that we forgot about the nudity.

Ooops.

Watched it on a bootleg DVD that I bought in a little shop in Iraq with my platoon in the summer of 2004. You've never heard people laugh that hard.

I was 8 and saw total recall at the drive in theater. Those three **ties seared that one in my mind. Huge deal for an 8 year old.

I was 24 and had to walk out of the theater for a few minutes during that scene. RIP Ray Liotta. Never had that feeling before or since. Instantly got hot, sweating, and wanted to puke.

Well I think the real house is just down the road from Killeen past Burnet...just sayin
