Season 5 was horrible so my expectations are tempered but hopefully they can turn it around. I thought the first three seasons were the best and it started to lose steam once they injected more well known actors into roles.

**** yes. This is probably top of my favorite Netflix shows ever

Still liked the Jesse Plemons episode to open season 4.

Starts this Thursday. Hype.

The only thing I remember about last season is that polar bear line.

Which is the first episode ? I read the reviews and am watching the worst one first. It's not good. But most of the reviews say there are 2 really good ones, 1 decent one, and 2 ****ty ones. I started with the ****ty ones

The first one listed by Netflix. Joan is Awful.

Turns out it's the perfect title. Awful episode.

I watched the first two tonight. Just not that great so far unfortunately. I'm hoping we can get a good one here or there for the rest.

I did watch the 2 lowest ranked episodes on purpose to give me hope on the next ones. It can't get worse from here.

I thought the first episode was good, but was a little twist on concepts they had done before. Or that south park had done before.

Felt a little longer than needed.

Joan is awful took way too long to get relevant. Then when it did it got incredibly corny. What a terrible episode.

I thought "Joan is Awful" had some fun parts, but absolutely deviated from the BM formula that presented near future technological dystopia that was frightening in its believability: the viewer could see society devolving to this point. The plot of the episode was silly and not at all discomforting in the ways that early BM (heh..unintenttional reference to that terrible church scene) episodes were.

"Loch Henry" was ok but was more standard suspense and completely abandoned the BM formula mores than JiA.

My hopes aren't high for the remaining episodes.

Skipped to Beyond the Sea. Already much better than the first episode. This is more like it.

Sooooo many Easter Eggs in just the first two episodes.

I honestly don't believe you have watched BM if you say that is the worst episode by 5 magnitudes.

Pretty clear from the first two episodes he is eviscerating the sensationalist aspect of modern entertainment and the way it completely just ****s over the regular people it impacts.

Episode 3 was great, so much better than the first two. The mysterious element is introduced within the first couple of minutes, you go into straight up disturbed mode about 10 minutes later and then your brain goes into a million different rabbit holes about how this will end up. Then the finale punches you in the mouth and leaves you even more disturbed. I also liked the subtle nods to Apollo 13 and 2001 A space odyssey.


To answer Brian's question, that aspect was answered at the very beginning in the movie theater scene.
