I can sit down and watch the prequels any time. They are clearly superior to the sequel trilogy, although I do love TFA.

Agreed and what functioning controlling Government names their army "The Resistance?"Brian Earl Spilner said:
I take the politics in the prequels over what the sequels did, all day.
The sequels destroy the galactic capital, along with a handful of other planets, and we never so much as see the capital once before it's destroyed. We never hear about how the new Senate works, or why the First Order wants to take over, or how exactly the system is broken or corrupt.
At the very least, get us to care when multiple planets are destroyed.
It's a lose/lose situation, but it should've been Coruscant they destroyed. I hate the decision either way, and that would've felt like yet another middle finger to the prequels by JJ, but at least would've made me care.
Agreed. And I got a good chuckle at this.An L of an Ag said:
However, compared to the sequel trilogy, the prequels were Dr. ****ing Zhivago.

The only star wars movie I haven't finished. I started it when it dropped on Disney+ and with like 30-40 minutes left I was like, "nah....I'm out."
Remind us, again, why studios should be bending over backwards to pay writers more?TCTTS said:
I'm not a fan of the sequel trilogy, but those movies are way more watchable than the prequels, IMO. I seriously don't understand how people can rewatch the prequels, unless you were a kid when they came out and it's purely out of nostalgia. Otherwise, they don't even feel like real movies to me, and are just overall mind numbing in their execution.
I've said this before, but to me the prequels are a far superior story executed horribly, while the sequels are a way worse story made competently if not expertly at times. The sequel filmmaking itself just blows away anything in the prequels, but the prequel story has so much more potential. If we could somehow combine the story of the prequels with the filmmaking of the sequels, then we'd really have something.

We can at least agree on ROTJ and Rogue One.
ROTJ - Mediocre movie at best, with high highs (Luke vs Vader), but very low lows. (Literally everything on Endor)
Agreed, the origin of the resistance would be nice to know about and let me know why I should care about what weirdass voice Leia had up her sleeve.Brian Earl Spilner said:
Well the Resistance was an initiative by Leia and not really sanctioned by the New Republic. Of course, this is information that is never made clear except in books and other ancillary material...

This sounds like something a person that works in the movie industry would say, and I don't mean that in a bad way. You watch movies differently than 90% of us that post on this board. You notice and care about things that most of us don't notice or care about. Most of us would rather have a good story that's lacking in execution than a bad story that is made well. It's just like music. When I hear a song, I either like it or I don't and I can't always explain why. A person that knows a lot about music will tell me a song that I like sucks because of X,Y and Z and my response is "that's great, I still like the song."TCTTS said:

I have seen both versions of ROTJ. Special Edition is actually superior. Because Yub Nub sucks.

I saw SW: A New Hope at 10 yo, perfect (targeted) age and have been a huge fan until the recent dumpster firing of Star Wars by Disney (a.k.a. White Slavers).
It was great to see my 8 year old son have his own set of Star Wars movies after watching the original trilogy with me and his younger sister many times. I believe my daughter always liked the original trilogy more.
TPM was an intro movie to a known Trilogy from the outset. It had to set everything up. It did that and had some of the best fight scenes with Maul and the Pod Racing was pretty cool. Lucas can do some cringe dialog, but that is to be expected. It did its job and was a fun watch.
I will say I really did like this poster.
I also enjoyed getting destroyed by my son in the Pod Racer game.

Eh, it's kinda cool, but it's not nearly as cool or exciting at the podrace.

Really? The podrace was populated by characters no one had any real investment in with awful CGI.
