If you like movies about Hollywood, the making of movies, or movies about movies. I can't recommend Sunset Blvd enough.
A murder surrounded by actors that are associated with a once Hollywood star who is struggling with the reality that her best days are behind her, or are they......

This brings back a memory of when I was a young pup working in corporate America.

One day we had a photographer on site to shoot executive portraits and our erudite senior vice president -- very prim and proper -- walked into our suite and announced to everyone, "I'm ready for my close-up, Mr. DeMille."

We all just looked at him. He could not believe we had no clue what he was talking about. He told us it was from the famous movie "Sunset Boulevard" and ordered us to "educate ourselves so we weren't culturally ignorant."

I STILL haven't seen the movie.

That statement has evolved now, at least in a recent episode of The Pitt, to reference Mr. Spielberg.

Sunset Boulevard is the one. Not only is it one of the best movies ever made, one of the best movies ABOUT movies ever made, but probably the first example of meta media ever made. It's legit something that earns the descriptor of being ahead of its time.

I think about that experience a lot whenever I quote a song or TV show and a 20-something just gives me a blank look.
