I'm sure it's been discussed at length on a different thread, but it's been a heck of a week and I'm too tired to look back through it. Currently packing to take my son to Metallica in Arlington for both nights this weekend. It's been his dream and we are all giddy - Mrs Phrasing included. Haven't seen them since Houston 2018 right before Harvey.

We plan on getting there for the start of WVH and Pantera. Couple questions for an AT&T Stadium rookie:

-How much time should we allow for parking and walking?
-About what time do you think would those openers come on?
-About what time for Metallica to rock our socks off?
-About how long does the concert last?

Thanks in advance- we have been super busy with back to school and are just now packing. Taking our son out of school tomorrow on his third day back to head own and driving straight to AT&T.

And for a bonus question and this is probably the wrong thread - but since we have Saturday to kill we were going to go root against the Rangers. Lol. (Life long Astros fans here) but we always enjoy seeing a new stadium. Is it okay just buying tix the day of on Seat Geek? I was thinking prices might drop the day of the game?

Sorry again for all the questions - just starting to think about these things. Appreciate all the advice. Let me know if y'all will be there!

General doors begin at 4 PM with several VIPs starting their check in at 2:30 PM.
Openers start at 6, 6-630 first band, Pantera 7-8, Metallica is supposed to go at 8:50 with a curfew of 11:00 PM.
I've never parked on site so can't help but it will probably be a bit of a walk.

Enjoy the show. I'll be watching from the Cinemark in Katy… really hoping they add Houston to the back end of the tour. Everyone should see them live once.

Traffic will be a pain in the ass with the Rangers game going on the same day and time as the concerts. There should be enough spaces to go around but thats a lot of cars all converging on one area. I personally would try to buy a parking spot before arriving just to avoid having to lot hunt. I havent been to AT&T stadium in over a decade but the last time I went i bought off-site parking and walked over a mile to the stadium. Its kind of like NRG Stadium where there are a bunch of lots around it and offsite options selling spots in commercial locations. Do not park in the walmart across the street.

What's the bar situation around Stadium?

I've heard there's a new bar scene between the stadiums but not sure

Texas Live! is the consolidated bar/restaurant complex that sits at the NW corner of Globe Life Field. Easy walk to AT&T Stadium. FYI, Rangers game starts at 7 Fri night and 1:30 on Sunday

I paid $50 for parking in blue lot 15. Looks like about a 1/3 mile walk to the stadium. Sucks to pay that much to park a car, but it is what it is and way better than trying to find something when you get there

Thanks! Yeah, didn't even think about parking. We are planning on getting to AT&T around 5:00. I'm guessing it will be somewhat packed by then already?

Hopefully with an end time of 11:15 or so, the Ranger game traffic will have already left?

I would think you would find some parking around 5:00. The AT&T stadium website gives zero parking info for this event so I have no clue if all lots are open to pay when you get there or if some have already been sold/given out as part of ticket packages.

Unless the Rangers game goes to extra innings, they should be cleared out by the time the concert ends.

I saw a Rush film there but it wasn't a live simulcast like this.

Think of it as a hardcore DCI broadcast!

Me and Digging Tunnels gonna hit up the Texas Live joint here in a bit to pregame for the show. If you're there, we'll be the 2 in black shirts, can't miss us. Haha, anyway looking forward to it, saw Pantera last night in Houston and they were badass. Can't wait to see Mammoth and Metallica also.

Yes. Apparently it's the "official" seller for cowboys stuff. I went to the ATT stadium website, went to parking and it pointed me to SeatGeek. They did have some parking for $700. No clue what that gets you.

Love broadcast was cool. Sound could've been better/louder to really make it feel like we were watching a live broadcast. Wasn't much surround sound and it could've been louder, but it was a good show. Even my wife said it should've been louder, and she's not exactly a metal head.

So much this.

I haven't seen Metallica live since 1992 when they toured with GNR. Most epic show I have ever seen.

Wife and I have been trying to knock out all of our bucket list "must see one more time" Gen X shows. Def Leppard in Vegas last September was amazing. Tried to see GNR at Hyde Park/London this summer, couldn't make it work. We keep trying to knock them all out.

Gotta see Metallica at least one more time. I did get to meet Hetfield in Florida recently. That was cool.

Knowing very little of the Pantera story, is there any reason that we only got the Cemetery Gates intro instead of full song? Do they ever play the full song?

Probably my only 'regret' of the night. Looking forward to Sunday.

I would guess two things, 1) they were only given an hour to play so they left out that particular long song, and 2) I bet Phil can't sing that well anymore or hit the high notes in that song

That's a tough song to sing. That's probably why they aren't doing it.

Currently sitting in the gridlock walking out of the Rangers game. Tempers are high obviously given the heat.

I'll say this. Going to ANYTHING in Arlington, or the American Airlines center - makes me think Thanos was right.
CNN is an enemy of the state and should be treated as such.

Pantera played cemetery gates less than 30 times after 1993,and only 3 times after 1998. It simply is not a song they generally play, even in their heyday

Nothing to do Phil singing, that song is easy for Phil to sing since it's low, save for the high notes at the end which he would just skip

I think at this point, it's clearly a tribute to the Abbotts.

Can't wait. See Five Finger Death Punch opening for them. My boy still has no idea what his big summer surprise is gonna be. But I can tell he doesn't think it's anything close to this.

By chance does anyone have a guess on set lists?

The openers have followed their set lists show to show exactly.

Metallica has generally followed the same set lists with some minor variations, you can look up the shows from this tour on setlist.fm

That was our first time seeing Five Finger Death Punch and we all really enjoyed that show - really good! Will definitely put them in the rotation. My son woke up singing "Wrong Side of Heaven" this morning - even after all that Metallica.

We were rookies for Ice Nine Kills as well. And that was.....interesting........lol. Very theatrical and entertaining to say the least.

Just wanted to say you were exactly spot on. We could have set our watches to this. Only difference was Five Finger Death punch came on a few minutes before 7:00. I'm pretty sure every first opener walked out at 6:00 on the dot and Metallica played from 8:50 to 11:00 both nights. Thanks!

Thanks Cajun - this was all good info as well. Getting there early and finding parking was easy as long as you didn't mind spending $55 for it. I would never do that in Houston for an Astros game or a concert at NRG, but with this being a special occasion for my son, I was fine with it. Plus spending a little more to shorten the walk in 114 degree heat was well worth it.

I liked that area - AT&T, Globe Life, Choctaw Stadium and Six Flags all together with the hotels and entertainment venues right in the middle. Really pretty cool!

Glad yall had a great time. I was having a bit of fomo seeing all the videos on my social media timeline. If I didnt get to see Metallica last tour through Houston I definitely would have found a way to go.

$50 seems to be the new norm for parking at big stadium events. I got free tickets to the Final Four at NRG Stadium and when I pulled up to the Yellow Lot it was $50 to park. Its not like there are many viable other options in the area that dont involve a mile or more walk.
