Fan scores, sure. Critics?jokershady said:
Seems fairly in line with public opinion when I see scores and read reactions to various films
I have tried to get people to tone down on the fake overly positive tweets, basically call me a troll. haha.I Am A Critic said:And the tweets from the random Hollywood "insiders."Not Funny said:

As with all critical opinions, I ignore anything Rotten Tomatoes and see a film to form my own opinion. Sometimes I might agree, but more often than not I don't.

No way this is true. Give me your top 50 movies of the rotten tomatoes era and I bet 75% or more have great RT scores.

It's more so the opposite that's the problem, imo. Captain Marvel had a RT score in the 90s. Quantumania was fresh. Etc.

CM was definitely in the 90s the year it came out. Guess it's (rightfully) fallen since then.

Personally I've been putting more value in the audience score than the critics score for a few years now.

We've always known RT scores weren't an exact science, nor have a I ever quoted them as gospel. They're simply an easy-to-use metric, one, as jokershady said, has still correlated relatively well with public opinion, all things considered. That said, I'll definitely be using them less after this bombshell.
Looks like one of the comments on that article states that it was indeed at 91% at one point, before settling in at the current 79%.Brian Earl Spilner said:
Well, nevermind then.

I guess I'm thinking of another movie. Maybe Black Panther.

My statement is a guess, since I don't look at RT often and largely ignore other sources of critical opinions on movies. But I stand by my statement when I do look at RT scores.Bruce Almighty said:Cinco Ranch Aggie said:

I remember as a nerdy kid who was really into movies, how I loved watching Siskel and Ebert's show on WGN Saturday afternoons. I got to see footage of movies that were just about to come out (this was way before the internet and ubiquitous online movie trailer releases). But even at that age, I actually valued their opinions because they seemed genuine.
