Folks are always trying to game these systems, if the systems aren't outright corrupt themselves. Snake oil salesmen are alive and well.

RT is a useful tool to aggregate the so called "Top critics" reviews of a flick. I can simply click on the links and check out what the NYT, New Yorker, LAT, Guardian, etc. think about a film without having to navigate the individual rags' websites.
