Notice she's hitting all the talking points in what she wants to do with the money (help the poor, elderly, stop climate change).

I haven't seen the original show. Do they actually explain why the show is called "Squid Game"?

How many folks truly believe the producers influenced the outcome?

It's not about belief, they absolutely did influence the outcome. 432 came out and stated he broke his cookie, but was allowed through, if we are to believe him

Prob why it wasn't filmed in the US
Wonder what the games
Show laws in UK are

If you watch the beginning of the original show, it is explained at the very beginning. Squid (ojingo) is a popular kid's game in South Korea. The game gets its name because the playing board on the ground, a square, circle, and triangle, resemble a squid.

Is the original show worth watching now that I've seen this one? Or is everything spoiled except the characters?

There has the be some editing to the Ashley story. She straight up said, "I did jump" and Mai didn't bat an eye. My wife and I just looked at each other like wtf, did we miss something? The other contestants not fighting anything and taking her side on it is also super strange.

We just finished the series today and i actually said the same thing.
Something HAD to be edited or things make no sense

I can't see how they could possibly edit the moment where she betrayed him from being anything good into that. I think the reason nobody else called her out is because they were cowards or were still her allies. What annoyed me even more is that afterwards, people said that she had "honor" or whatever.

No doubt, Ashley came off as an idiotic c-word. The fact that she initially thought that would be better for her was hilariously stupid. And he was stupid for taking the fall for her. He should have told her "you can either play our way take a 50/50 chance or play your way and have a 1/2^{how many were left}. Instead, he (anb they) made it easy for her.

We thought it would be funny to watch the Challenge first not knowing about the original, then watch the original and see what happened to the losers of the game and be like "wtf just happened?!"

One of the games in Season 2 should be Simon Says.

This whole sequence was confusing and didn't make sense. Either it was weird editing or the players were just being dumb.

She was going to have to take her 50/50 jump whether she overtook or not. Her actions were portrayed as selfish but she ultimately was subject to the same risk as everyone else (except for those who never had to choose). She just looked dumb for not overtaking, as if it would benefit her. It had no impact on her odds. The only way it helps is if the guy in front of her makes the right call all the way to the end…no way. The guy was dumb for continuing to jump.

The only truly selfish way to play the game is to refuse to jump and force the desperate people behind you to overtake.

I wonder if they'll let some of the losing contestants come back for Season 2 or if all 456 contestants will be brand new.

Just finished the finals. It was way better than expected but I still can't believe the BS with Ashley either, I'm unfortunately going to be randomly annoyed every day over Christmas break as I think of the glass bridge episode.

The winner will get the money thirty days after the final episode aired, so they won't get it until the new year.

If I was a low number and everybody refused to do the 50/50 idea, then I would do exactly what you said. Just sit there and say, "I'm dead anyway. I'm not going. If you guys don't want to die too, then you better start trying to cross."

I wonder what the producers would have done if nobody had completed a challenge? Seems like the people in the fourth line of the cookie challenge could have all held out and forced everyone to fail, or if a standoff occurred in the bridge challenge.
