I believe that's showing Godzilla regenerating and I believe Tojo said they want this to be a trilogy
Sorry I meant right before that.... Don't want to give out a spoiler, think "veins"

I did wonder about that too. For a second I wondered if I imagined that.
Was wondering if it was meant to imply radiation sickness or something.
While I agree he did need a kick in the ass, you're looking at it with western eyes. I thought this captured a part of Japanese culture very well, coupled with the survivor's guilt he felt along with the cowardice thing.Quote:
Low point: main protagonist was a weenie. Enough already
My thought at the moment on the pushing out of the way scene was why not just dive in there with him yourself, tackle him if need be. But maybe too much of a western football thought there.dreyOO said:
Yep, totally get it and made the same guess with my wife.
Just a personal (western) preference. What put me over the edge was the woman pushing him out of the way.

Got a chance to see this tonight and it was fantastic. And yes, that soundtrack still gives me chills.

Call me crazy, but I think a double feature of Oppenheimer and Minus One would be fantastic.

The simplicity of how the movie was shot was a thing of beauty for an action film. It followed the main character from beginning to end... period. You knew his motivations, his backstory and saw him struggle through. We were invested in his life.Quote:
The Japanese have the character development so much better than their American counterparts.
Picture a montage of the scientist working on his bubble trap, the young kid rallying the tugboats with an impassioned speech, the old captain rigging the cables, the main character helping out with the plane.... all set to some awesome music. This works sometimes, but it's overdone and often poorly executed in Hollywood. Brian Earl Spilner said:

Whoa I had no idea there were separate b/w and color versions. I'm pretty sure I saw it in color, but now I'm trying to remember if it had an old time technicolor feel to it.
I did not have an old time techinicolor feel to it. The B&W version released 1/25. It's in US theaters for this week only. I saw it last night and highly recommend it. The color grading by scene was awesome and the lack of color helps to hide some of the weaker CGI scenes. I just hope we get a physical release of both versions here in the US. I hope Toho has finally seen that the US drives Godzilla sales and really consider releasing more in our part of the world (that includes upgrades of the older films).heddleston said:
