I honestly hope that the goal or message of this film is to show the audience (particularly the politically devout on both sides) that this is not a road we ever want to go down. That it would not even well for anyone, or either side. Please don't take a political side, please don't take a political side....TCTTS said:

You've already found the thread about this movie over on the politics forum. Why not keep your posts consolidated there?
I do not get why this guy is projecting so much with little to nothing to go off of from the movie or cast.
I'm out, sorry to upset so many grown men on here. You guys are probably right, this won't be a very political movie.

That does not AT ALL seem like A24's style imo...but I could be wrong.Chipotlemonger said:I am going to bump my post I had in December, since some of the discussion is being retreaded.Chipotlemonger said:I didn't see the nails/hair a callout to any group at all. And yet Kirsten Dunst's character - one of the journalists - seems to have a Texas/southern/Texas. I'm not saying that automatically makes her conservative, but it does show how many layers this seems to have.

Alex Garland’s CIVIL WAR is a masterpiece. My heart was constantly racing and my jaw was on the floor by the final act. Get rid of any expectations you have and see it in the loudest theater possible. #SXSW pic.twitter.com/LAkQ377SyC

Civil War is a 5 / 5 ⭐️ visceral experience that is a masterpiece of direction, performance, sound design, and script. I’ll be thinking about this one - and the way I view footage and photos of war and atrocities - for some time. Thank you, Alex Garland and a24. pic.twitter.com/g3DGGSKBBK

I’m speechless, Alex Garland’s Civil War is not only the best movie of the year but the most important. A haunting story that’s beautifully shot and led by a tremendous cast. There is nothing quite like it and you’re not ready. A true modern masterpiece! #sxsw pic.twitter.com/l8hEzhQltp

#CivilWar is phenomenal. Alex Garland’s latest is a wholly consuming war movie. An epic but deeply intimate piece that uses the experience and motivations of a group of military-embedded journalists to highlight the deeply chilling reality of living in a world that never learns.… pic.twitter.com/hWxCYdSSbX

Alex Garland’s #civilwar fucked me up. Visceral, prescient. Some great central performances. Truly a movie of the times. #SXSW

Ben Salisbury and Geoff Barrow have crafted an excellent score, and the sonic landscape is immersive and visceral. The cinematography is also through the roof. Reminiscent of Children of Men, and just as good.#CivilWar is the film of the year so far. Five fucking stars. #SXSW pic.twitter.com/KlJ9EfSDkx

Alex Garland’s #CIVILWAR is a masterpiece. Feels like a cross between a civil war movie and an A24 movie. Kirsten Dunst equally channels Tara Reid and Faye Dunaway and is unbelievable. Will never look at people the same way again. Offerman’s Oscar campaign starts now 🤯 #SXSW pic.twitter.com/KngJHGbhqp

The places they go, the themes they explore… everything will truly shock you in this boundary breaking modern epic. A24, Garland & the entire cast/crew have achieved truly historic filmmaking. Just WOW. There will be before Civil War & after Civil War, it changes the game. #SXSW pic.twitter.com/QLVOg2feKD

Alex Garland’s “CIVIL WAR” is an absolute fucking MASTERPIECE. A riveting, unflinching, visceral cautionary tale that’s scary as hell. Watching it, one can’t help but feel how close we are to this actually happening, making it a MUST SEE to stop it before it actually does. #SXSW pic.twitter.com/IO66iO0rIU

#CivilWarMovie is Alex Garland’s BEST film yet. Thrilling beginning to end, it’s a focused and VISCERAL look at the frontlines of war journalism that is timely and terrifying. Kirsten Dunst, Cailee Spaeny, Wagner Moura, & Stephen McKinley Henderson are stellar. Not one to miss! pic.twitter.com/FxLralLDGm

This movie is perfectly executed. A breathtaking portrait of what is to leave in a war territory and how tragic it can be. It’s terrifying, it’ll have you on the edge of your seat for the whole film. pic.twitter.com/0CpeDINPoF
Not only is CIVIL WAR Alex Garland’s best film, it’s his APOCALYPSE NOW.

A staggering journey into the dark heart of a decaying nation that examines the role of journalism, desensitization to violence, and division. Genuinely speechless.

ALEX GARLAND’s Civil War is propulsive, grade-A entertainment, fluent in political theory and cinema history, sexy and provocative, tight as a drum and thrillingly tactile. #SXSW pic.twitter.com/KTDX9BZSIs

Um… Alex Garland’s Civil War is incredible. A true knockout. The movies I want to compare it to will force an overhype situation, so I’ll just leave it at that. One of the most engrossing movies I’ve seen in years. Goddamn.
