Crazy to me that we have now had TWO assassination attempts since this movie came out. The first one was extremely close to everyone seeing pink mist or a head explosion on live TV. Obviously, these have nothing to do with the film and i would never make such a ridiculous claim...just shows that the timing was right for this movie. Also scary pondering how, if successful in either attempt, we could have descended into some type of "civil war" or chatoic period of widespread social unrest, basically over night.

If there is another attempt, and it is successful, look out. Hell, even if unsuccessful, you may start to see people "acting out".

Also, I would raise the threat level to "orange" (lol) if Trump wins. No telling how the left will respond, after being conditioned to believe he is "Hitler" and "the greatest and most imminent threat to our country and democracy" for 8 years.

I saw nothing in this film that mirrored anything in the current political landscape and an assassination plot has nothing to do with it. They allude to the President being a third term President that became a tyrant so possibly they are alluding to the Jan 6th BS in the "what if" scenario saying a President refuses to leave office or something.

Wife and I watched it and both thought it was meh. Didn't really care for any of the characters, no care for which side of the war to root for or even understand why there is a civil war. It really just felt like a big hooray for war correspondent, look how awesome they are.

Agree with this assessment. Very meh

Honestly I didn't think it even made war correspondents look particularly good. They spend the whole movie giving zero ****s about the people around them dying and only suddenly care when one of their own eats it.

It just felt like an incredibly nihilistic movie.

Except that Trump left office. So that "what if" is not based on any reality either.

Finally saw it last night and thought it was one of the best films I've seen in a while. I LOVED the fact that you didn't know which side to route for (aside from a quick hitter about president's 3rd term and disbanding the FBI), how it started, or anything else. It was a small focus in a very big story.

I don't think it made the journalists out to be heroes...but people doing a job and responding in very different ways. I do think it was a warning shot to America...bipartisan. And that last word is important. If Garfield had focused on the bigger story, it was be easy to say "this is just orange man bad"...but he didn't. The president could easily be any of our recent chiefs.

Only thing I didn't like was Leah freaking out and then suddenly getting it together. Didn't fit the character. But that's a minor quibble.

A Solid A rating from me.

This movie sucked, and I didn't give a S about any of the characters.
