I know many on the E-board are strong proponents of physical media like DVDs. Seems like they will soon be a thing of the past.

They already screwed up Star Wars with all the special editions. I will keep my DVDs of the theatrical versions of Star Wars forever.

Way too many people place Orwell above Huxley to their detriments. The former was a good writer, though I think his best is easily Down and Out in Paris and London, which makes no political statements other than working/serving-class lifestyles are relentlessly bleak, while the latter was a great writer, with his best ofc being Brave New World. Both 1984 and Animal Farm are cute stories in comparison to BNW's prescience and crispness.

No clue who that is; just get annoyed seeing so many people like that guy believe in delusions of "leftist authoritarianism" or whatever, again solely because of Orwell's more middling works, rather than engaging with the world as it exists today and predicted by Huxley. His prose is better too, but clearly that doesn't matter nearly as much as it used to in any medium. Whatever.

Was buying gifts for a family friend's kid who is 15 and asked what they wanted. They asked for a walkman and a bunch of cassette tapes. I bought them a walkman sport and a curated selection of tapes from my local record store.


I still have a couple of folders of DVDs in case I want to watch something that isn't streaming.

During the snowpocalypse of 2021 we had no internet but we didn't lose power.

We watched all three LOTR extended editions one day. And much of the Marvel catalog. Our Blu-ray/DVD player was happy!

its was definitely a WTF moment. I knew there were some bands releasing new music on cassettes for Record Store Day but had now idea how many new cassettes were actually available.
