Musically the best for me is Hot for Teacher. The percussion is just the best.

I love both Van Halen and Van Hagar.

Overall, is Love Comes Walking in. I about creamed my pants at the Ohana Festival when Sammy came out with the Killers and they played that.

What is your favorite Van Halen song?

My #1: "Unchained"

Close second: "Mean Street"

1st time I saw VH was in 1984... "1984" tour at Dallas' Reunion Arena

Saw the "5150" tour w/ VH as the headliner at the '86 Texxas Jam at the Cotton Bowl.

Saw VH a couple more times after that.

I saw 5150 in San Antonio a few months later. First concert ever.

If I remember correctly, the Cotton Bowl was in the summer and was so hot they were shooting fire hoses over the crowd. Correctly if I'm wrong.

My brother purchased two tickets for the Van Halen/Black Sabbath show at the then Seattle Center Coliseum. Couple weeks later VH announced the tour starter (few days before Sabbath show) at University of Puget Sound Fieldhouse. He sold the Sabbath tickets... and we went to the 4.3.79 show at the fieldhouse.

Yes... Mean Streets and Unchained are rockers.

Took my twin boys to the Sammy and Dave show at Glen Helen when they were 12.

#1 "See, a gun is real easy in this desperate part of town, turns you from hunted into hunter (yeah), you go an' hunt somebody down, wait a minute, ah, somebody said fair warning, Lord, Lord, strike that poor boy down"

#2 Unchained, yeah ya hit the ground runnin'

#3 Senorita I'm in trouble again and I can't get free

Hard to believe that once upon a time a band like this existed.

It was great. Dave opened. Sammy, the hometown boy, closed. We had up front seats, and my boys were giddy. Can't believe it's been 22 years. They've since seen Sammy a few times.

In an old shirt drawer remains that tour shirt.

Runnin with the Devil

Had a cousin that was a big VH fan pass away a year ago. They played it at his memorial. I am thinking that song has to be either 100% spot on or 100% a bad call for a memorial service. No in-between. In his case, pretty sure it was the latter.

Awesome to hear, and the setlist looks pretty good - nice mix of his solo stuff and both eras of Van Halen.

I can't say I have a favorite because I love so many, but one I haven't seen mentioned that I really dig is "Humans Being".

A very underrated song, and on the Twister soundtrack as well.

Man. That's surprising.

I can't stand Humans Being. Like "how did they sink to this level?" not understand it.

No way to pick a favorite.
Probably no way for me to pick one favorite off each album.

I'm The One is just killer, balls-out, kick your ass rock and roll.

Romeo Delight is so good that VH used to open shows with it. I'm partial to that one because some guys my brother played in a band with ended up playing that song in their set.

Their guitarist (an Ag class of '87 maybe?) was a huge EVH fan and spent hours of his teens perfecting every VH song he could learn. And he really nailed them all.

A lot to choose from....I'll go by album:

Van Halen: Ice Cream Man
VH2: Dance the Night Away
WaCF: Everybody Wants Some
Fair Warning: Unchained
Diver Down: Little Guitars
1984: Drop Dead Legs (I'll Wait a close second)
5150: 5150 (maybe my favorite VH song)
OU812: Cabo Wabo
For UCK: Poundcake

Kind of lost interest after this...

Balance is a very underrated album IMO. The mess with Cherone and the reunion album with Roth are mostly forgettable.

Used to play Ice Cream Man for my daughter on the way to pre school daily. Seeing a 3yr old wailing about Dixie cups and push ups in the rear view mirror was pretty priceless. It'll always be my #1.

Re: "If I remember correctly, the Cotton Bowl was in the summer and was so hot they were shooting fire hoses over the crowd. Correctly if I'm wrong"

Yes they were ... people near the stage were getting hosed and they appreciated that!

I attended 3 Texxas Jams (84 Rush, 85 Deep Purple, & 86 VH)... all three were loud and it was hotter than hell.

I was a weekend warrior rocker though ... sat in the stands... not on the floor of the Cotton Bowl.

Intruder...wish it had been longer than an intro to "Pretty Woman", because it has a "gimme a couple of bazookas and let me go blow some **** up", ominous sound to it.

Always liked Jamie's Cryin' from their first album.

The first time I really discovered Van Halen- 1987, I'm sitting in my buddy's mid-80s stepside, single cab Chevy. I was just starting to play guitar. He throws VH (1st album) in the cassette player and plays Eruption. He tells me "That's David Lee Roth playing that with one hand. I saw the video. He's playing with one hand and holding up the devil horns with his right hand."

Of course I believed him, because all I knew about Van Halen was "Jump" and a few songs on the radio from 5150.

I've always wondered what video he saw, and I've wondered how he didn't realize DLR was just mimicking Eddie (apparently).

Anyways, he played the whole cassette and I was hooked for life.
