For the 2-3 of you who are interested... reactions to tomorrow's release of Billy's first new song in 17 years!

Billy's been my favorite since age 8 (me not him). Seen him 20 times in concert. Hope to catch the 150th show at MSG in July.

I was at that one too!!! Useless fact: you'll remember that they projected "turn on your phone lights" during one of the songs at that show. I hear they did that at one of the shows outside of NY as well. My guess is it was either the November show or that other show that this photo came from.



Or neither - what do I know?

Interesting! A fun "I was there when..." story that is likely unverifiable

Between this release and the Grammy performance on Sunday, I'm hopeful that this is more than just a one-off single but I'll take what I can get.

Yeah, if it had been since he was 8, you'd be a) old, and b) incredibly creepy if you weren't related. Happily, not the case.

My friends all think the 20 times in concert - is incredibly creepy enough. When I talk to others at his shows in NY though... my 20 is tame.

Nah, going to see an artist you like isn't creepy. Talked to a dude an Iron Maiden concert a couple years ago - it was his 70th show.

Been sitting on my Biily Joel and Stevie Nicks tickets for 18 months. Show got delayed almost a year. Finally in March at Jerry world.

Been a Billy Joel fan since I can remember. I had no idea he had a single coming out. Very excited.

Going to see him at the rescheduled show with Stevie Nicks in March at the Death Star. Will be my 5th time to see Billy (and 3rd to see Stevie).

I'm undecided on what I think. On my 5th listen.

The talk before the world premier makes it sound like his collaborator brought him this song nearly finished. But that Freddie Wexlwr has convinced him to go through some old unfinished songs (that Billy has claimed for years he doesn't have) and collaborate on finishing them. I'm more excited about that possibility than I am about this recording at the moment.

Listened a handful of times this morning … Overall, I like it!

Initially I was hoping for something that wasn't a ballad and felt slight disappointment after the first verse when things didn't really pick up a ton. Not sure why I expected anything different given the teasers but that was the initial reaction.

After the first listen, the more I went through it and became familiar with it, the more I liked it. I think it lends itself to some flavorful improvisation if he decides to do it live anytime in the future.

I'm not usually someone who cares a ton about lyrics and rather focus on the music itself, but these stuck with me and definitely felt very "Billy" even if he wasn't the sole contributor.

Ultimately, I do think the song will ring hollow a bit if there isn't more that comes after this, whether that's just an EP or a full album. That said, there's more Billy in the world now than there were 10 days ago when the news of this really started leaking, and that's a good thing!

Listened to it on the radio and I liked it. Has a 90s/00s Elton John sound to me, which makes sense with how much time they spent touring together.

Also, most of Joel's music came out before I was born and I didn't realize until now that it stretched back to the early 70s. For some reason I always assumed he started around 1980 based on its sound, which shows how ahead of other songwriters he was at the time.

Been a Billy Joel fan for my whole life. I understood his break from putting out music for his own reasons and separating from the recording industry, however I hope for him that creating brings him half the joy and sentiment that he has brought me and millions of others.

There's a nostalgia and a comfortable familiarity, "man, that's some vintage Billy Joel." But, is it going to hold up over the years? I'm not sure.

Love Billy Joel and would certainly welcome this style of music making a comeback on the airwaves. I can't recognize most of what's out there and have to always stream.

Billy's voice still sounds amazing. That in and of itself is impressive. Agree with another poster that it has a bit of an Elton John vibe. It also reminds me of Two Thousand Years, so doesn't seem out of place being a Billy song. I dig it.

My only complaint is that I always though Famous Last Words was an awesome way to announce you were done writing music. It's such a great "last song". Then again, it left the door open for songs in the distant future. I guess we've just lived long enough to get there. I mean, 30 years is a long time.

Over 50 years and still sounds great. Hopefully there's more coming.

I heard the premiere on the radio while driving to work the other morning.

Another song writer had this idea for the song and ended up getting to work with Billy to finish it and get it recorded. It's not really a Billy Joel song all the way through but he added his touches and then lent his voice and keys to it.

I like it.

Music video dropped this morning -- the AI got a little funky in a couple of spots but the concept is great. If you're a big Billy fan, the ending may get you a little emotional.
