Huey Lewis can't sing?
Nope, he had to cancel his last tour. His voice is done and he can't hear.

He can't hear. You can't sing if you can't hear. Or not reliably anyway.

As a Springsteen fanatic I love that he got so much screen time in this documentary. This thing was put together at the perfect time for his career as he was coming off the Born in the USA tour which is the album that took him from being a star to a superstar. Bruce will be the first to tell you his voice doesn't stand up to those legends but he did hold his own.

I'm just becoming a Bruce fan, but he has soul in his voice that some others don't.

It's obvious.

4. When i was a kid and the song came out, I had no idea who the old people were. Still don't know who the drunk dude is/was.

Al Jarreau. Legendary jazz vocalist. Had several pop hits in the early '80s. Sang the theme song to the hit television show "Moonlighting." Won 11 Grammys (seven not counting "We are the World").

Michael Omartian, who did the musical arrangement for "We are the World" (and played piano on the track) also played on several Jarreau albums. That's probably how Jarreau got included.

Make sure you catch Bruce and the E Street Band in person if you can. They are the best.

That Omartian interview is fabulous. Funniest part was when he talked about Ghostbusters. Hearing him play along to those Dan tunes was great.

Another thing I learned from this documentary was how important Richie was to the whole thing. I have a ton of respect for him for stepping up the way he did.

Almost forgot: Quincy Jones's "white boys" comment at the end was hilarious.

Yeah... I really haven't cared that much for LIonel Richie over the years and really hated his stupid videos.
But, I gained new respect for him.

I still prefer "Do they Know it's Christmas?" by Band Aid.
definitely the superior song

And the smarter play - do a Christmas/seasonal song that gets played every year vs one that hasn't been played since the 80's.

I watched this yesterday and never knew about the Waylon thing, but it did make me remember this bit by Kevin Meaney
