Super Bowl Halftime wishlist

I thought last night was fine. Okay not great. As per usual there is a lot of complaining from people who simply don't like this kind of entertainment. If they did opera during halftime I probably wouldn't like it no matter who it was.

But if you were emperor of the Super Bowl and could pick anyone to put on a show, who would it be?

Someone on another thread said The Killers. I think that would've been a great call for this Super Bowl since they're from Vegas and their music has the energy range you want for this type of thing. I think they'd be fantastic.

I think Taylor Swift has proven she knows how to put on a hell of a show (of course haters would hate hate hate). I know she turned it down but I have no doubt she'd kill it.

Somebody on another thread suggested a big time country artist could pull it off. I think Blake Shelton could've probably done it at his peak The Voice fame. Not sure if any of the biggest acts out there right now would have the appeal (and I don't like any of them well enough to put them on my wishlist).

Dua Lipa is one I think would do an awesome performance.

Or of course we could just let Bruno Mars do it every year.

Who would you like to see at a future halftime show?

Without repeating any of the past performers, I would have to go with Sia. She has broad appeal, has enough bangers to do a 10 minute medley, has enough collaborations to bring on guest performers, and can put on a show.
Bruce Almighty

I think Metallica would be great. It would make the 40 and 50 year olds happy and they've become kinda cool with the younger crowd because of Stranger Things.

Didn't know Taylor had been offered and turned it down. She's definitely a no brainer for a halftime show.

Oh yeah Metallica would be a good one.
I think they could definitely pull off headlining and they'd also be a good surprise guest during a show.

I do think they need to get a rock group back in there. Metallica would be my pick. Unfortunately it seems like they want something crazy in terms of production with routines and such. Rock bands don't typically do that

They could definitely use a group that's a bit older. You need to have 5-6 bangers to play during the set.
Run DMC would be my choice, even with Jam Master Jay gone from this earth for 20+ years, they were still playing in '23 but have since said they've retired. But would be easy to get some other rappers of the era up there as well.

Maybe go all out for the living legends and get the STones, McCartney and someone like Stevie Wonder up there for a blowout jam session singing each other's hits. Not sure any of them would want to, but what a show they could do.

I'd also be down for a reunion of Genesis or Fleetwood Mac or even the Beegees. Their documentary was very well received.

I legitimately think Creed could pull it off

I think Drake is the other obvious choice other than Taylor Swift. He is one of the biggest musical stars in the world for the past 15 years and puts on a great show. He would appeal to a lot of different generations of fans since his music is still relevant today.

I think that's the problem with halftime show acts like usher and Rihanna. Their music hasn't been relevant in a while and the younger generation doesn't really know their hits from 15-20 years ago.

Rihanna's halftime performance was watched by 121 million people and is the most-watched halftime ever.

If it was going to be a country act, I think the only one who would have broad appeal would be Zack Bryan.

Such a weird, virtue-signaling take.

I agree, I think he is currently the country act who has enough mass appeal and hits to pull off a Halftime Show.

BUT I DON'T LIKE THAT KIND OF MUSIC SO THAT MUST MEAN. IT'S NOT POPULAR.

And for the record, I was watching in a group with 3 kids under 21 and they sang along with pretty much every song last night.

What the HELL was that?

Taylor Swift was there.

Post Malone was there...

and the halftime show was ****in Usher/Lil Jon/Ludacris/will.i.am?

We really gotta dig up artists with 20+ year old hits when we got Taylor and Austin Post in the audience? What the hell are we doing?

Put posty up there on the stage and let him do his thing. This was such a layup.

Obvious choice that will happen at some point:
Foo Fighters. The biggest rock act in the world, universal appeal, tons of hits, amazing stage presence.

Obvious choice that will never happen:
Kanye West.

I think Vegas was a special opportunity to get a Killers/Panic at the Disco/Bruno Mars funkfest - who wouldn't dig that... I think half time shows only get watched to see if anyone will come close to Prince. Dude's reigning champ going on 17 years.

People have to say "yes".

The Super Bowl can't afford Taylor Swift.

She has an open invite any year she wants it.

And her career would have to have fallen off for her to do it.

Foo Fighters would be a good choice. Maybe Mariah Carey with some other artists around her.

This. No matter what anyone thinks of her, she makes too much money touring right now to do a halftime show. You think Super Bowl tickets are expensive now, they would go up in price by another $2,000 a pop if Taylor Swift was performing at halftime.
