Happy Gilmore is legitimately one of my favorite movies of all time. It's just a funny enjoyable movie.

It's not like making Ghostbusters or Ocean's 11 with an all female cast just because Hollywood wants to check off some boxes.

We are now 20 plus years after the end of HG 1. Happy is a fan favorite, rich, happy and getting old on the tour. Some ridiculous set of circumstances lead to grandma's house being in the balance of a legal ownership dispute. Something about Shooter buying it last time, but a line in the contract was contingent upon him winning a gold jacket. Well, Happy has to make that clause come true or some big bad guy developer is going to tear down the house for a strip mall.
Cut to present day Shooter. He is a total mess. Losing to happy broke him. He is a drunk fat slob and blames Happy. Happy has to bring him back into the fold and build him up. Happy on the bag, shooter in the tourney.
Enter some tragic event. Maybe an alligator bites Shooters hand off. Deeper in the contract (which they conveniently still haven't read completely-barely an inconvenience!) allows Shooter to nominate a player for him. He picks Happy. Happy wins and lets Shooter live in grandma's house. Unsure if the modern family lady is in this. She got old and boney. But there will be several midgets riding stick ponies in chaps.

How many people *****ing about this also *****ed when they first heard a second Top Gun was being made?

Those are some of the best! You should give those three a watch along with Arrested Development, 30 Rock, and Veep. Each of these is easily better than Friends (and I like Friends).

They should make it a shot for shot remake of Rocky III except with golf, where Shooter McGavin shows up to train Happy after he's lost a big match and tells him he's going to teach him about the "Eye of the Gator".

easily the most watched movie for me all time. Don't know why, but I found myself seeing that thing well over a hundred times originally in passing. Now my boy loves it and probably saw it another 20+ times around him. Little man got teary eyed when he found out Chubbs went to heaven.

Shooter McGavin is my all time favorite villain.

Honestly….the whole story about how he got the role as Shooter and how he's embraced the fans is really awesome!

For a guy who's seemingly always cast as the jerk/villain in everything he does he sure is a cool dude

Really this should go with a Cobra Kai opening vibe and have it be told from the perspective of Shooter McGavin crashing and burning after losing the Tour Championship.

I get it, but also if he was still trying to play a manchild at 58 years old people would have something to say about that. This won't touch the first one, but should be a decent streaming movie

yeah I never understood why some folks put Waterboy on such a pedestal….for me it was just ok….had some funny moments but also is where some of the annoying "Sandler tropes" started in a lot of his worse comedies that were to follow…
