Just finished. I loved it. So many great jokes, cameos, and connections to the original. Goofy enough that it waa funny but not too crazy. All the real golfers were great especially Scottie. I'll watch it several more times.

That was the best use of John Daly I've seen since the meme featuring him and Tiger.

Oh also the Margret Qualley cameo at the beginning of the movie is hilarious.

I'm about an hour into the movie, but that was so crazy We had watched "Maid" a couple of months ago and I could not place who she was on the golf course. But damn, those legs.

In addition to Sandler, Benny Safdie, Bad Bunny and John Daly were the 3 who really carried the movie along.

As far as cash grab sequels go, this was great

I enjoyed it. It's a sequel to Happy freaking Gilmore, no need to take it so seriously.

Scottie getting arrested again had me dying.

It was hilarious and really enjoyable. The new golf league stuff was a bit stupid but that is not a surprise with the Sandman.

It was dumb and fun. There are a lot worse ways to spend 90 minutes of your life.

Thought it was hilarious. It's stupid with a ton of fan service but that's exactly what a Happy Gilmore sequel should've been.

Thought Scottie's lines and delivery were great.

Favorite jokes were John daly-s flawed math skills and Eminem yelling Detroit! Before the gators get him.

Enjoyed Waterboy more than Happy Gilmore but to each his own

That being said. Thought HG 2 was a lot of fun and really enjoyed the casting, real PGA folks, Reggie Bush, etc

I wondered if they even tried to get Tiger to make a cameo.

I have to imagine 99% of golfers on the tour grew up with Happy Gilmore on repeat and were begging to be in the movie.

We watched it last night and loved it.

I have worked with a few AFI grads and they used Happy Gilmore to study the heroes journey.

I'll add my name to the masses who thought HG2 was great. Would it have been as well received in theaters?

The soundtrack was one of the best I've ever heard. Even a Cult song! Also one of the best montages of all time somewhere in there.

Not in the usual sense. Sandler first signed a production deal with Netflix in 2014, and has repeatedly extended it. He's up to 13 flicks/comedy routines he's written, starred, or produced for the streamer.

Most of them would have bombed at the cinema, but HG 2 probably would have done well. Regardless the cash was already grabbed by Sandler in advance of this flick, and Netflix is undoubtedly thrilled he delivered a winner with a retread rather than some of the original content he's trotted out.

I'm just curious as to how some of the cameos were decided. Some of them have obvious reasons (the golfers, his kids, his friends, etc.), but why Eminem, Reggie Bush, etc.? I wonder if he has some sort of connection with them, or if he just likes them, or if they reached out, or what.

I read and article about Eminem being friends with Sandler, and then Eminem basically hanging out all day on the set despite only being in the movie for 2 minutes.

He told the story to Dan Patrick - here it is

Here's Screen Rant's guide to all 72 cameos.
I gotta say, Bad Bunny is destined to dump the rapping and be an actor, he's been funny on SNL and he's funny here.

Edit - also Paige Spiranac, working at the golf store in the movie, posted this.

I do wish Sandler had the balls to just make a great comedy again, or an editor he would listen to.
I think there was a movie on par with Happy Gilmore and Billy Madison in this movie, but was still pleasantly surprised and enjoyed what we did get.

Dude, this. Scottie getting arrested was the best part in AA movie in a long time.

The golfers being normal humans in this was so awesome.

Slow start but when it finds its legs, it really hits the vibe of the original.

Couple of quick observations/opinions:
1) Jon Lovitz is a national treasure.
2) Bad Bunny is a superstar.
3) Said it on the SNL thread and I'll say it again here…Marcelo Hernandez is a one trick pony and that pony has been ridden into the ground.
4) I was unaware of the cameos going onto this. I didn't realize that was Eminem until the credits rolled. Wow. That was great.
5) Who was the "fine ass English hillbilly" (that line killed me) that owned the mini golf place Chubbs' son worked at?

I died with the old golfers asleep on the couch.

Fine Ass English Hillbilly (what a User name that would be!) is super hot English golfer Charley Hull. She is mostly known for being smoking hot and for getting caught literally smoking on camera at the US Open a few years ago. But you'll forgive her.

Super happy to see Lovitz in it.

His audition in the Wedding Singer remains some of the hardest laughing I've done in the theater. One of my friends played it at his wedding reception, much to his wife's horror.

I was expecting another <10% rotten tomatoes-type movie , so I thought this was fantastic. Obviously dumb, but it delivered a steady stream of solid jokes, and a decent number that were laugh out loud funny.

Personally I think this was about the best case scenario. I mean let's be realistic: "58 year old dude with a history of money grab productions decides to make a sequel to a slap stick comedy he made 30 years ago" ends horribly 99% of the time, so getting a legitimately funny movie out of him was an A+.
