So the more I think about this movie, the more I dislike it.

I think in most musicals, the songs are supposed to advance the actual story. Yet in this movie, they only interrupt the little story the movie has to begin with.

It feels like they barely had a story, and added 30 minutes of singing and dancing to pad the runtime.

Plus it really didn't have much new to say about the character of Arthur Fleck.

Overall I think it actually detracts from the original movie.

Saw it last night and wasn't a fan at all. First one was great but felt like nothing happened in this one.

Songs took you out of the story. It was a bold risk, I'll give them that, but didn't pan out for me at all.

Phoenix and Gaga were great, but weren't given a plot to work with.

If I don't see it soon, I wont be upset having to wait to stream it at home.

This summer, if you would have told me that within a two-week period I'd be skipping the George Clooney/Brad Pitt fixer movie, along with the new Joker movie, I would have assumed it was due to me being deathly ill, not because I had zero interest in both after middling marketing and bad reviews.

Also, it's crazy, I had 100% confidence this was going to be massive at the box office, combining the already popular first movie with the star of Lady Gaga.

And at some point in the last month or so, it feels like all hype for this movie just kind of died.

Did not see it coming. I'm thinking it may not even catch Beetlejuice Beetlejuice now.

It also doesn't help that we have The Penguin currently airing, which is better than this movie by leaps and bounds.

This. It's very rarely that I want to watch a depressing movie. Neither of these Joker movies has ever been of interest to me.

(But actually, like Louie Armstrong, I think the world is a wonderful place….mostly)

It was supposed to have a big theatrical run, but once Apple knew they had a stinker on their hands, they relegated it to a week-long theatrical release, followed by an Apple TV+ streaming release this past Friday.

It was the first Toronto International Film Festival reactions that killed it, which was just about a month ago. Ever since then, Warner Bros seemingly pulled way back on the marketing, then anticipation just fizzled. Pretty crazy.

The movie feels like an overly long and unnecessary extended epilogue of the first movie, with nothing at all to say or add to the original story.

I went from mostly enjoying it to hating it in about a day.

Man.

Yeah, I keep seeing a lot people saying it almost feels like an f-you from writer/director Todd Phillips to all the fans who liked/revered the Joker in the first movie. Almost as if he set them up to then shame them in this one, via the trail and all that. Which would certainly be a choice.

Yeah this feels like it's gonna follow the trajectory of Captain Marvel. That drop from 1 to 2 is gonna be historic.

Nice.

On a related note, I don't know why guys still wear those long undershirts. I see multiple tackles each game made by guys hanging on to them.

- Uniform reveal on the same day Joker: Folie a Deux hits theaters.

- Joker wears an all-maroon suit in both movies.

- Big stairs feature prominently in the first movie. Big stairs feature prominently in Kyle Field.
