Based on initial reactions, that "8" is perhaps sounding a bit too high, as only a couple of reactions so far have mentioned how impactful the movie is on the future of the MCU, and only casually at that. Rather, it simply sounds like a damn fun movie, which is totally fine by me. And, if anything, it's more of a wrap up/"love letter" (enough already) to the Fox X-Men movies than something that paves a new direction forward.

#DeadpoolAndWolverine is less of an introduction to the MCU and more of a hysterical conclusion to Fox's Marvel universe. The handling of 'Logan' was very well done, and Hugh Jackman skillfully offsets the comedy with a few weighty scenes.

DEADPOOL & WOLVERINE almost lost me a few times, some of the humor runs dry quick and the villain plot is thin.

But it's crazy that this movie, out of the whole Multiverse Saga, is the one that actually has something *interesting* to say about legacy characters. Hugh kills it.

Staying off YouTube the rest of the week….fortunately I don't have a Twitter account so no worries about spoilers there….

On a personal level I'm honestly just worried about getting sick…..last time my wife and I had tickets to an opening weekend major blockbuster it was Maverick and I woke up with covid the day we were supposed to see it…..so obviously that didn't happen…..

So with the exception of maybe the last Star Wars movie I haven't been to a major opening weekend Friday night blockbuster in a LOOOOOOOOONG time…..hoping the packed theater makes this a lot of fun!

I haven't seen it mentioned yet in any of these initial reactions, but does one need to watch any previous films/shows to fully understand or appreciate all the jokes in this movie? Specifically should we watch Loki, all previous Wolverine movies, and all previous Deadpool movies before seeing this?

my guess is you'll need to have some knowledge but it won't stop you from enjoying it…

Take the TVA for example…I'm sure they'll be explained in a much simpler fashion than Loki ever could in their own "Deadpool" way but probably one or two jokes in there for those who watched that series

As far as the fox marvel stuff….they were making big jokes and references to those in the first and second Deadpool movies and honestly not too much has come out from fox marvel since Deadpool 2 so I'd say if you were up to date enough on that you should be good…

Personally I'm avoiding watching anything old just cause with the exception of the X-men phoenix movie which was awful I've only seen most of those films once and just don't have the desire to watch them again just for references and I'm good with that

After the initial wave last night, I've been seeing a number of reactions more in line with this one today, so adjust your expectations accordingly...

DEADPOOL & WOLVERINE: I mean, you know you’re getting cinematic junk food with these at this point, and by that metric it’s kinda fun but mostly exhausting, per usual. Probably the best of these by virtue of Jackman, and some fun faces pop up, but it instantly leaves the brain.

I would watch all previous Deadpool movies because they are great. Don't worry about the rest. If you find you don't like them for some reason, I'd likely pass on seeing this one
