As good as BBT is, the wife and daughter scenes almost make the entire show unwatchable. So cliche, so corny. With that said, looking forward to Season 2.

Agree with this. I liked it better when he got phone calls from her with the annoying ring tone. Should've kept her his ex with Michael Pena as her husband.

They are the comic relief in an otherwise serious show. I roll my eyes but don't mind it at all.

I agree. Plus the wife is developing as a character. Her work at the old folks home and her focus on making the house more livable demonstrate that she isn't just one-dimensional.

As an in-house landman for a company that operates 500k acres, us 4 landman are getting so much company cred now.

Thank you TS

I'm curious if anyone has gone to Whataburger and asked for a burger "animal style" or whatever she called it.

This, minus your last sentence. I hate watched this to the end but that was some garbage TV. Every scene the wife and daughter were in was some of the cringiest TV I've witnessed…brutal. And the cherry on top is trying to pass off a 30 year old as a HS junior.

I bet you and those that liked your comment still watch Season 2 after using words like hate, cringiest and garbage

I will only continue to watch because Ali Larter is a smoke show and BBT's sermons about the necessity of fossil fuel are gospel.

I haven't gotten around to watching this yet, but as someone who works in O&G and grew up with a dad that worked himself up from a contract pumper to field/production supervisor (like his father and older brother before him) I'm looking forward to the fossil fuel sermons.

So do you basically manage all day-to-day functions of working oil wells? I am confused by this show because I thought a Landman was just responsible for getting the surface contracts signed. BBT visits the wells and is basically a do-it-all manager for operations.

I just started watching and five episodes in this show makes you think people die every week working these rigs. As soon as I saw a foreman jumping up and down on a stack of pipe like a toddler I thought " oh here we go again" and sure enough it collapses and he dies. I would think even mediocre energy companies have better safety execution than that.

To me watching the show Tommy roles & responsibilities seems like he should be titled VP of Operations

That doesn't make for a very catchy title.

The only way they will be able to keep me from continuing to fast forward thru scenes with just the wife & daughter is if one of them appears nekkid. (Daughter's actually 27 IRL so I don't feel too pervy about this.)

So far, this is accurate. He's the only one that I've seen doing anything a Landman actually does (except drive a lot). Like research a lot of land/mineral/ownership & talk to landowners. However, in NO way does it happen that fast and almost no surface owners happen to also own 100% of their minerals. It does happen but its not common. Him signing the ranchers etch when they first met might have worked in the early 1900s, but it wouldn't fly today.

At some point (I think it is episode 6) BBT states he is the general manager. As others have stated, Landman makes a better title.

They obviously have to simplify things a bit to make it interesting otherwise this would just be one large legal snore fest.

I don't know - doing a side by side camel toe comparison kind of makes it entertaining.

No love for the Mexican widow? She's fine but no way I'm believing she popped out a kid three months before.

nope, she is terrible also.

I suspect Taylor Sheridan is trolling everyone with all the women he puts in his shows and how terrible every single one of them is. The senator/governor from YS is about the only non-annoying female role I can identify.

Sheridan definitely was present the day in Screenwriting for the Female Character when Vince Gilligan and Kurt Sutter were guest lecturing about Skyler White and Jemma Morrow.
