I think it's kind of a gray area, but they were a real band before the movie. Blues Brothers did not originate on SNL like many people believe. If they're still included, then the Revolution should also be included for Purple Rain.

I hear you but they are "Jake and Elwood" not John and Dan so to me, fictitious band. I know they play and I agree, gray area.

I got the same kind of discussions before on my poll.

Particularly about Gorillaz - who are a real band who chose animated personas and did videos etc. as those characters. But they were a real band first of musicians, not actors.

Whereas I would agree that Blue Brothers are a fictional band made up of actors (primarily in the lead roles) that did real album releases. But they were envisioned as a fictional thing. Same with The Monkees and The Partridge Family.

Suzi Quatro should be listed on the thread with underrated guitarists.
