It's kind of a loose, shaggy, not-particularly-well-made show, but with that comes a '90s throwback vibe in the best way, and man is it an easy, enjoyable hang. We're just along for the ride, watching Vince Vaughn be Vince Vaughn (except an older, chiller version), in the Florida Keys, caught up in a fun little murder mystery, which makes for the perfect, breezy, end-of-summer show.

Considering it's from Bill Lawrence (Scrubs, Ted Lasso, Shrinking), I was expecting half-hour episodes, but the first two (which went up tonight) are 56 and 45 minutes, respectively, so the runtime was a welcomed surprise. And the first episode, at least, flies by (I'll probably watch the second one tomorrow).

Anyway, again, yeah, it's a little goofy at times, and nothing special, but the vibes are great, and it's just a pleasant, amusing time all around so far. I definitely recommend giving it a shot...

Man, I thought this might have been a Hard Knocks behind the scenes type show featuring t.u. Glad to see I was wrong. If I hadn't just canceled AppleTV+, I might have given this a go.

After seeing bulked taciturn Vince in Dragged Across Concrete and Brawl in Cell Block 99 (hilariously violent) it was refreshing to see him trim and his motor mouth engaged again.

The pace is languid, but it's a long format and something the wife can enjoy with me unlike the darker fare mentioned above.

I think I'm in. VV was awesome in this past season of Curb. As long as they let him loose to cook, I'll be there for it!

Spot on description by OP. Nothing special, but enjoyable.

Agreed. Really enjoying this show so far. The music has also been great with all the Tom Petty covers.

Haven't watched episode 3 yet but have liked the series so far. Enough moving parts to keep it interesting. I wish VV would crank it up another 20%, he's a little low-energy for the pace of the show. But Natalie Martinez...good Lord!!!

started the first two episodes and love it

but part is that I have been a fan of Miami since 1984 and plan on retiring to Florida. Makes me excited to get down there.

I love everything that Vaughn is in.

and also what's great about this is that people look like real people, and talk like real people talk.

also hilarious when he got shot down asking the hottie out for a date- that NEVER HAPPENS IN HOLLYWOOD SHOWS.

10,000 hollywood shows in the last 50 years and the male lead eventually dates or marries the hottie every single time.

because hotties are never previously married, lesbians, or have a serious boyfriend, or just not interested in the male lead.

This is not typical Bill Lawrence fare, but still quality TV. My enjoyment has grown steadily over the first three episodes.

My only issue is that they feel a little long. I would have preferred maybe 10 fewer minutes on each one so far.

And as a side note, if you guys haven't seen Vince Vaughn on Hot Ones, go watch.

Bahamians, unless there are new characters from Jamaica introduced after episode 1.

I'm in after 1 episode, not hooked like with White Lotus and others, but good so far. I agree with a previous poster, at least the first episode was a bit long to me. I am also enjoying Vince Vaughn rapid fire dialogue again in this.

Loving this!
I wanna hang out with this show for hours. The beach, beers, sun, laid backness, humor, mystery and pretty ladies. Rosa, Eve, Ex Teacher Girlfriend, Dragon Queen, all are very pretty. Apple TV delivers again!

Really enjoying this show. This feels like a movie they just don't make anymore, but stretched it out into a series, and I don't mean that in a bad way. While it's a murder mystery, it's got just the right amount of humor, and not just jokes but the silly things like him getting out of the car to pull a guy's mailbox out of the ground and toss it in his yard, or the stuff he keeps doing to sabotage the house next door. Vince Vaughn is perfectly cast for this show. Only thing throwing me for a loop is Rob Delaney, the last time I saw him he was Peter in Deadpool & Wolverine, and while he looks the same he's playing a very different guy to the point it confuses me every time he's on screen.

I haven't read the Hiassen book but the dialogue sounds like Vince is ad libbing the entire time

just because it seems that is EXACTLY how Vince Vaughan always talks!

great dialogue and casting

While Zach Braff did a good job acting- it's disconcerting to have a scene and say "hey it's Zach Braff!"

Yeah I have no idea if Vince's lines are scripted or not. But I usually like his lines in most of the roles he has been in. He has a real natural way of delivering those lines and I wouldn't doubt if half of it is made up on the fly.

Great show so far:

I was so glad to see Rogelio was a homosexual. I was really worried that there were not going to be any in the show. It seems extremely relevant to his character

when nick stripling revealed himself to daughter, my first thought was "eve certainly has a type. he looks just like christopher." then I got it

What relevancy does showing him in a heterosexual relationship add to the Rogelio character that a homosexual relationship does not? And if it isn't relevant to the story at all, why spoiler tag it ?

Why is it a requirement to have LGBT angles/characters in every production? Pandering just to pander really carries no weight.

I think that happens quite a bit in shows nowadays, which is annoying, but don't think that's the case here. For one, I don't remember Rogelio's spouse even being addressed in the book at all. (Been years since I read it though) Which means they didn't change it just to change it (which I also find very annoying) Sometimes I feel like people here think every presence of a gay person is an example of pandering. Guess what, there are gay people in life. Not every example is trying to fit an agenda. In this case, They didn't hit you over the head with it or try to rub our faces in it. They added it for depth to a one dimensiaonal character from the book. Making him previously married with kids, only to come out, to me, makes Yancy a more sympathetic character who stuck by his friend IMO. Makes him seem more loyal and a good dude. I don't think it would have carried as much weight had Rogelio just been divorced and remarried to a chick. Just my $.02

Plus, you ever been to Miami? I swear there are far more gays there per capita than most any other major city I've been to.

This might have been the best episode of the season so far. Love a good flash back and they nail this! I love the start of Eve and Chris and how they broke bad. This turned into a Coenesque crime thriller.
VV continues to nail this role and I hope to see more of him as Yancy after this season. He's a darn good detective, and he gets the girls, what more could you want!

Meh, the dude being gay didn't bother me. It was not shoved in your face or seemed like they were trying to drive an agenda. Part of what makes this show so fun, is that it's just a good story and there has been no "political preaching".
