I appreciate the analytical POV. I can definitely hear the difference. As with a lot of other artists. Such as blink-182 performing live.

I prefer live performances because you get to see a more raw performance...most of the time.

Haven't heard the album, but it's pretty clear Post has a good understanding and appreciation of country music.

At the recent Outlands Music Festival, he invited Jimmy Olander from Diamond Rio onstage to do a cover of "This Romeo Ain't Got Julie Yet."

That's going back awhile -- released 31 years ago.

After listening to this album and watching some of his covers, he seems to appreciate good country...he's just not able to create it.

ETA: as many have said, "Yours" is a song that definitely hits home for me. It could have been tweaked a bit, but a solid end to the album

I prefer Dwight Yoakum's recent release, Second Hand Heart

Recent? That album was released like 9 years ago!

I guess for Dwight that is pretty recent though!

I haven't listened to any of his newer stuff but I always liked classic Dwight.

Saving Country Music's review ... basically, a decent album that could have been great with some song editing and better production.

I can't stop listening to this album. One of the best albums I've ever heard. Out of 27 songs, probably 22 or 23 of them are good. He hits so many different styles within this album, it's a masterpiece.

Hide My Gun is my fav song on the album, but there are like a dozen or more that I legitimately love.

I don't care what kind of country music you want, this album has it. The melodies and chords and production are so so good. The wordplay that country music is known for is good. The heart is good. The grit is good. This album nailed it.

Agree to disagree. I think it blows and sounds exactly like all of the other crap on the radio

Everyone has a different taste in music.

To say it blows is a stretch.

Who are your favorite artists and genres?

What a coincidence. Here's the two of them riding on horses together at night down Sunset Blvd just a couple of days ago:

Sunday is his first stop for the new tour. Eager to see the setlist. If it's all just f-1,000,000,000,000 I'm going to be pretty bummed. Needs to be at least 50/50 new and old for me to be OK with paying this much to see him.

Most I'd pay for pure country setlist is 50 bucks GA. I bought these tickets before realizing he dropped a new country album and I guess I'm stupid because I didn't realize it would be a tour for this album

His live in Rome set was completely amazing.

One of my favorite independent bands will be the opener on Post's tour - Muscadine Bloodline.

Two guys from Alabama that make some damn good music. Great opportunity for them, yall check em out

I would be bummed if it's all country too.

Stoney, beer bongs and Bentleys, Austin, etc have some awesome songs I'd love to groove to

And I bet they are amazing live

55:45 mark is "Sunflower" country version. I realize this is at the Grand Ole Opry but I suspect this is how the old hits will be played on the upcoming tour. I'd love to be wrong:

ETA: Compare that to the hour and 16 minute mark of this from just two months ago.

I did not expect to like this album, but it is constant bangers imo. Country music with his own twist...I was kind of expecting him to go fake and change his voice and style etc.

There are a few songs that I could see being played in a South Alabama honky tonk, or at a trendy bar on South Congress, and being appreciated by the respective crowds.

As a girl dad, "Yours" unexpectedly hit me pretty hard. First song to make me actually cry in I don't know how many years. I cannot listen to it without choking up. Told my wife it's going to be our daddy/daughter dance song at my little girl's wedding someday and it's not up for debate.

This is where I am at...yeah some of it kind of resembles some of the standard country you hear on the radio nowadays, but there's something that sets it apart musically and vocally that I am trying to figure out. I can't stand a lot of modern country and I am highly impressed by this album.

No way he wrote most of these songs right? If so, he's a damn genius to be able to crossover and pull something like that.

I'm a guy who almost can't listen to any country made after the 90's, outside of a few guys like Whitey Morgan, Cody Jinks, Jamey Johnson etc., and I am a big fan of this one.

Yikes. Oh well. Still happy to see him live, but if this is the set list....yooooooh. Not a single track from Austin?

That Bonnaroo set was even pretty great. This, not so much.

That's a shame because "Austin" is a great album and "Overdrive" is probably my favorite Post Malone song.

He just posted this from first night of tour going on right now. He's rocking a Dallas Cowboys jersey so it doesn't appear to be full blown country:

My 0.02….

I thought it was fine, but in a lot of ways it sounded like he was joining the guest artist for one of their songs, as opposed to the other way around.

well shoot. We booked my son's birthday party in the car because the venue was running out of spots and I just now realized that it was the same night as the posty concert.

Looks like I'll have to sell the tix.
