I did not know she was Johny Depp's daughter until after the movie. Pretty solid job by her. She was great.

The last hour kind of dragged for me. Not sure why, maybe bc the pace was so slow.

Until we hear back I'll just rewatch Bram Stokers Dracula…specifically the Winona scene where she runs down the stairs.

Saw it yesterday. I'm not a horror person but it was decent. Depp did a good job and Bill took his character to another level. I never saw the original so can't comment on that.

Girl I went with was jumpy through the movie and couldn't really eat after it due to the anxiety it caused. We went to the 9am show and I had brunch no problem.

Watched it tonight w/ my son. I thought it was pretty good. He thought it was just ok. I think it was a bit slow for his 17 year old attention span. It had a few too many jump scares to my liking - the 2nd one got me pretty good, but after that I had my guard up and the rest were just annoying.

It's been 20 or so years since I saw the original, and I only saw bits of the 70's remake w/ Klaus Kinski, but in both of those films Orlok had the same look, so I was a bit surprised with this version being different, but after the initial shock i got used to him. I didn't know it was Bill Skarsgard until afterwards. Now he's played 2 iconic horror badies.

I liked that it has Willem Dafoe in it since he played Max Schreck in Shadow of the Vampire.

Pretty good, if a little long. The production design and cinematography were both top notch. Should be a frontrunner for both Oscars.

Often times you couldn't tell if a scene was in B&W or color.

Definitely more jump scares than I was expecting.

For me Lily Rose Depp's performance made the movie. She was fantastic.

If you enjoyed The Witch, then you should definitely see this movie.
Eggers does such an amazing job of building tension and suspense with how he manipulates the camera. I think he has taken another step in that regard, and would be interested to see him do another original story.

Thought there were a lot of amazing performances in the movie, and beyond who has already been mentioend I thought Aaron Taylor-Johnson was quite good as well.

I think I would say it met my expectations, but not sure I would say it was excellent or exceeded them.

I enjoyed this flick more than anticipated. The only beef is its about 20 minutes too long.

I loved it, but I also loved The Witch and The Northman. I know what I'm getting from Robert Eggers - his movies are art, visual feasts, and master classes in building tension. He doesn't disappoint here.

My 15 year old son really liked it.

My wife hated it, but she has horrible taste in entertainment and would rather be watching a Hallmark movie.

Just wanted to add that it has a definite strong horror vibe throughout, but in the gothic sense, not a modern horror sensibility.

Horror is my favorite genre and I enjoyed Eggers other films.... but this one was rather boring. It failed to build any tension to make the viewer (me) feel uncomfortable or on edge. I might have fallen asleep during the film if not for the large coke zero.

It seemed to take forever to get going. Technically well made but never really took off for me.

I really enjoyed The Lighthouse. I thought The Witch was shot and paced beautifully but just not really a scary film.

I just couldn't get into this. I wouldn't say it was plodding, nor boring... Just not captivating.

I thought it was pretty good. Wasn't blown away. But I watched it at home on the Focus Features FCY app which had a watermark pop up in the middle of the screen every 10 minutes or so. That was annoying.

Saw this today with my daughter. Loved the look of the movie. The slow build worked for me. But when it ended, my reaction was a middling meh. Thought Willem Dafoe was great. Understand maybe 2/3 of what the vampire said. It seemed to follow the basic plot of the original novel but with a German setting rather than London. I suppose that was to differentiate it?

This is the first movie of Robert Eggers that I have sat through; when I tried to watch the lighthouse movie, I fell asleep. But since I like the look of this one, I think I will watch his other movies.

Saw a late showing last night - visually a masterpiece and superbly-acted by all. Pace was a bit slow but kept our attention. Orlac was spookier early on when cloaked and only the creepy hands appeared. The 'stache threw it off or me. Definitely worth a watch.

Absolutely loved it… the look… the staging… the dialogue… the performances… the fantastic third act… everything.

No notes.

I swear, no one is doing evil/dread better than Eggers right now. His execution is just so perfect, and so perfectly creepy across the board. He's like the Wes Anderson of shooting beautiful, haunting horror.

As for the mustache, I actually really liked it. Not only does it help separate this version from past iterations, and adds a bit of a sinister Daniel Plainview vibe, but according to Eggers it's period/region accurate for a Count. Any man of status/nobility back then, in that region, had one. It's such a great little attention to detail that really helped make the character for me.

agreed, I thought the mustache was fitting for the creatures backstory in the movie.

Saw it this afternoon, really enjoyed it. It was shot beautifully, acting was superb. Not familiar with the original movie, but am pretty familiar with Coppolas Dracula and I read the book a long long time ago. I thought it was interesting that both deal with the industrial world vs the old world, but Dracula had the industrial world "winning" with the train getting them back to Draculas abode on time, but in this movie it was the old ways that were the only thing that could defeat the evil. I would like to know the filmmakers thoughts on why they went that route.

You could cut diamonds on Nick and Lily's cheekbones

Felt like this movie was less industrial world vs old world and more of which of the two is better equipped to confront old school evil

I would have been fine with the length if I had not already endured 30 commercials/noovie, nine trailers, and 70% human face Nicole Kidman before it began.

Almost every shot was near-perfect if not perfect.

Just got out of the theater. Thought it was very good. I like my horror to look realistic with good acting, not cheesy and fake.

This movie should be up for some awards. Cinematography and acting were well done by several characters. Depp was fantastic.

Yes it was a little slow, but that doesn't bother me if the story is good.

That's what Tom Selleck said about mustaches in the 80s.

My sons wanted to see it so we went tonight before the oldest has to go back to CS in a few days.

Don't know what to make of it. On one hand, the acting, sets, costumes, were outstanding. On the other, it was just kind of boring and gross. And not scary. At all. Dafoe was great. Depp's kiddo was great.

Doesn't even compare to 1992 Dracula. Not even close.

Nor to the 1931 Dracula.

This was certainly a well made movie, but it just didn't land for me. No interest in watching it again.
