I have been exploring unique covers over the last few years. Not to take away from the original artwork of the song, but to maybe hear it in a different light and form. It can speak to you differently. Please share some of the unique covers you have found.

I've shared once before, but this is by far the only Tool cover worth a listen.

This cover of Eminem's "Lose Yourself" actually made me appreciate the song even more. She kills this, IMO

I can't remember where I first John Legend covering this. But as a huge Bruce fan and I appreciate Legend but not a fan, this is a phenomenal cover of Dancing in the Dark that puts a different perspective on this pop rock song and without Courtney Cox dancing around!

Not a cover per OP, but so worth sharing if you're a Bowie fan. This is a remix of Bring Me The Disco King from Danny Lohner. Stripped it down and guitar by John Frusciante and backing vocals by Maynard J Keenan.

You could start posting just about all of Postmodern Jukebox covers for something like this.

The best one, imo:

RIP Charles Bradley. Dude was greatness - all heart. I'm thankful I got to see him live a couple of times including this set in the pouring rain.

One of my favorite covers is Dan Fogelberg/Tim Weisberg's cover of the Hollies' "Tell Me to My Face." Kinda obscure but a cool interpretation nonetheless.

Fogelberg and Weisberg delete the second verse and add an extended jazz/rock-influenced solo section with guitar and flute. The more modern production gives the song a fuller, more complete sound. And Fogelberg is definitely a better lead vocalist than Graham Nash.

Plus, Fogelberg adds layers of harmony (including Don Henley from the Eagles) while the Hollies -- known for their harmonies -- just let Nash carry the vocal.

Weisberg's flute also complements the lead guitar really well. Those two collaborated on two albums, both classics.

Here's the original song, from 1966:

And here's the cover from 1978:

I heard many moons ago that an alternative rock band called Alien Ant Farm covered a Michael Jackson song and scoffed. What a travesty. The balls on these guys!

But then I heard it and realized these dudes delivered.

This has been one of my favorite covers of I Wanna Dance With Somebody after I first heard it. It really gives off an entirely different mood/vibe from the original.

And last one, for my metal head friends. Troy Sanders (Mastodon) and friends did this mash-up (which was popular way to make music during the covid lockdown) of Megadeth's Holy War. Brilliant
