I agree with two previous posters:

Joe vs the Volcano - i was in high school when it was in the theaters and my best friend and I kept wanting to walk out but our ride wasn't going to be there until the movie was over so we stayed. It left an impact on me with its badness. I tried to watch it again recently and couldn't get past the first 20 minutes. Confirmed terrible.

The Tree of Life - I was a Smithville resident (where it was filmed) at the time and the whole town was abuzz with excitement. In fact, I worked with the Chamber of Commerce and we were promoting the hell out of it. I mean, Brad Pitt doesn't do bad movies, right??? So all of us who helped directly and indirectly were invited to the premiere in Austin and OMG...I seriously couldnt believe how boring it was. I felt like a victim of bait-and-switch. The Smithville folks all met up at a bar afterward and we were just speechless. We tried to make sense of it. We knew we had gone to a lot of trouble to help make a completely forgettable movie. It was the equivalent of Terrance Malik whacking off into a jar and making us stare at the results for hours upon hours. Just an awful waste of time branded as a brilliant masterpiece.

That's a rather explicit description of what Tree of Life was like for you.

If we're talking recent fails, Amy Shumer 'kind of pregnant' was horrible. Wife wanted to watch so I drank and doom-scrolled on the couch. It was abysmal.

The Room was previously the worst movie I've ever seen, and I've seen Highlander 2. But I would watch a doubleheader of The Room and Highlander 2 on rotation for 24 hours before I'll watch Napoleon again.

Nor The Hurt Locker; and I think most people who served in Iraq circa 2003-2009 would agree that movie is laughable

Someone mentioned Eraserhead earlier. That's clearly the worst movie I've ever seen.

Not the "worst" movie ever but the more distance/time goes by the less I like, A Few Good Men.

I think she's a really good director, and I loved Zero Dark Thirty, but the Hurt Locker is massively overrated and forgettable.

Walked out of this one in theaters, some 20 years later I tried to watch it at home and still walked away from it. Truly an amazing and immersive experience of a epically bad, ****ty movie. I present to you 2002 Solaris

Anything with Cameron Diaz in it. Holy hell that woman is terrible.

Solaris is the first movie I think about whenever this thread pops up.

Who is this "Deb" to which you refer? I would have gladly latched on to any glimmer of hope as I watched that mind-numbing film. I found none ... nor did I find a Deb in the cast listing.
