It's not entirely unpleasant to see you again.

First two episodes dropped. The first one was very good, but didn't have time to watch the 2nd one yet.

just wrapped up both episodes. i was cautiously optimistic going in, but im sold now. without spoiling anything, that opening was a hell of a way to kick off the series. when matt did what he did on the rooftop, all my concerns that disney might overly influence the direction of the show were pretty much alleviated. there aren't a ton of action sequences in these two episodes as they establish the characters and plot, but the couple we get, especially that first scene, give me a lot of hope for this series.

one thing i'll say in case anyone is wondering about how important the netflix series is, i definitely found myself regretting not at least running through some recaps on more than one occasion (it's been at least 3-4 years for me since i watched it)… it's not that you necessarily need to have seen it to follow this, but there were a few references i was a little hazy on, and a face or two that i recognized but couldn't place from memory. nothing super important, but it definitely tied in more than i was expecting.

re: whether it's pg-13, the violence is about on the level of the netflix show (more intense than typical marvel if you aren't familiar) and there were a couple f bombs, but nothing too over the top. it's definitely not a show for young kids if that's why you're asking.

Yeah, I haven't watched the Netflix series in a couple years, so at minimum it's probably worth at least rewatching DD season 3 for a refresher. There are things referenced in many of other shows where Fisk appeared like Hawkeye and in Echo but so far not as big of a deal.

I'm gonna wait and try and avoid spoilers as best I can. Something about week-to-week Marvel really kicks me in the crotch.

But this will be a tough wait, so we'll see if I crack eventually.

ultimately i found myself frequently questioning whether various characters/references were from previous seasons or not. several of those for me, as i've since learned, were not- i actually ended up being pretty good on the references that actually were from past seasons as it turns out, my problem was anytime a seemingly important character was introduced or someone or something was discussed that wasn't happening on screen at that moment, i couldn't be sure if i should know more but forgot or if it's something new. so im hoping a refresh before ep 3 will allow me to watch without spending half the episode on things like trying to recall if we've met the female lawyer before or who tf adam is.

Just saw the first two episodes. I love it. It's a different tone than the 1st series but it's still great! Can't wait to see where the story goes.

Good recap of the Netflix show if anyone needs a refresher:

Watched ep 1 last night, pretty brutal opening scene that definitely sets some big events in motion. Overally enjoyed it and I'm curious to see where it's going, planning to watch ep 2 tonight/tomorrow.

Really liked the first two episodes. The fight choreography is still on par with the Netflix series and I'm liking the direction they're taking the story.

One thing I'm a bit unclear on is why Bullseye went after Foggy. Was it some sort of revenge killing to get back at Murdock? But if so, I thought he didn't know Murdock was Daredevil. Am I missing something?

Saw a couple of complaints about sub-par CGI but I feel that's limited to some of the outdoor rooftop travel stuff they were trying to do. Which hopefully won't be too commonplace anyway as it's unneeded.

As soon as he put the White Tiger back on I saw it coming. But yeah, that was brutal.

Curious to see how this impacts Matt.

Ok time is limited in our house and we haven't watched the Netflix show….BUT….now that this show is out and 3 episodes in do we need to watch that to understand this show or are we good to just jump in to this one?

I think you are just flat out missing out not watching the original series. I think you could manage without but the original is in the top tier out of everything marvel has put out.

You can skip the defenders parts and every other netflix show and maybe the second half of daredevil season 2 after punisher parts.

I assumed something like that would happen when I read that the actor died in real life. So I figured the reshoots that happened in the show would likely involve something that explained the actor not being around longer. I also assumed that something would have to happen to White Tiger that compels Matt to put the Daredevil mask back on.

Comic book spoilers below:

. The White Tiger is killed in the comics, so his death wasn't surprising. It was done a little differently as he was found guilty, tried to escape and was killed by the police.

Also, in the comics, the hit on Nelson was ordered by Maxwell Glenn, who is Heather Glenn's (the therapist) father, though I doubt that happens in the tv show.

would you say that the Netflix daredevil series for marvel is equivalent to Andor for Star Wars?

Yeah it is vastly better than any marvel tv series to date. Kingpin is fantastic, punisher intro was fantastic, bullseye intro was great. Only thing that maybe wasn't the best for me was a lot of the hand storyline.
fig96

And even the Hand storylines are better than most any other tv Marvel has put out, it's my favorite Marvel series by far.

The original Daredevil series on Netflix is my favorite superhero TV series ever. It's 100% worth watching. I'll probably watch it again as these new episodes are coming out. So far the new series seems to be on a good track.

One thing I'm confused about is why do the dirty cops all have tattoos that look like the punisher skull?

The original Netflix Daredevil show is one of the best TV shows ever. It's absolutely worth watching before you watch this new show. You will have to watch The Defenders mini series to bridge the gap from season 2 to season 3.

Seriously, it's a great show. Watch it.

IMO the first episode was not good. Way too much happened way too quickly, the action scene was not near the quality of the original show, and there were too many things that didn't make sense. Like how was Bullseye not in prison after season 3? How did Fisk get out of prison so quickly after being responsible for untold numbers of murders? And even if there was an explanation for him being released so soon, the idea of him running for mayor is absurd and not in any way believable. The subtle attempts to draw Trump comparisons are just stupid. Murdock seemed like a completely different person than in the original show, although maybe that's intentional for the first episode before he inevitably gets sucked back into Daredevil. I could go on about more specific things that contain real spoilers, but I'll leave it at that.

That being said, episode 2 was good, and episode 3 was even better. Matt Murdock doing lawyer things has always been one of the best parts of the show and something the writers and Charlie Cox do a great job of.

I have a feeling we're gonna learn more about Dex as things progress, we saw more of his trial and sentencing so they seem to be starting to slowly reveal that. Whoever was behind that has to play into this as well, it was obviously something targeted at Matt.

As far as Fisk, I think in Hawkeye he got out of prison during the blip and started to rise to power again, believe there was more to that story in Echo but haven't seen that series. I'd have to think the world is also weirdly unstable from the blip with a lot of shifting values and beliefs, making it easier for someone like him with a lot of power to work their way into politics. Worth noting the general idea is pulled from the comics as well.

Probably because they are pigs that just want to beat up / kill people, and are trying to be cool Castle bros.
