Sounds like at least a few of us are watching this so thought I'd start a thread, ep 1 dropped yesterday. Great cast and it's hard to go wrong with Guy Ritchie and British gangsters, I haven't watched yet but will tonight.

I love just about everything Guy Ritchie makes.

Watched the first episode today. It did not disappoint.

Same, watched last night and it's pure Guy Ritchie.

I think a few years ago he figured out that people just want him to make Guy Ritchie movies (or series), he's had some fun stuff recently. The Gentlemen series was great and I just finally watched The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare which was a blast.

I sure wouldn't want to be that pub owner right now. We're really enjoying the show.

For sure, BIG reveal at the end of the ep there. Going to be really interesting to track back to see what happened, no way he doesn't spill all the details.

This show is great! Just love all the characters. Looks like the $ht is going to hit the fan after Episode 3.

I agree, and I'm surprised at the lack of traffic on this thread. I guess there aren't that many watching it so far.

Tom Hardy is really knocking it out of the park, Pierce Brosnan doesn't seem to be as in-charge as he thinks he is, and Helen Mirren is just plain nuts.

"Well you have not helped the Harrigans. Not at all."

Tom Hardy is just nails in this and Helen Mirren is insane in a super entertaining way. And quite the discovery at the end of ep 3, looks like we've got a rat.

Also I really want an Audi RS6 now.

And how Helen Mirren loves that crazy grandson. Really great show.

This show is awesome. I love how Guy Ritchie portrays gentleman gangsters.

Is this the show that had a $300K shortfall in crew payroll and Tom Hardy was stepping up to pay everyone? I think it all got worked out but it was an issue for a minute.

Maybe it was 300K pounds.

I have a theory… may be obvious to others, or may be way off. I think Maeve instructed Eddie to kill Tommy to get this all started. She's evil/awesome!

My wife and I were just talking about the same thing, and why she is doing it. Since I suck at spoilers, I won't put it on here now.

Thoughts on episode 4?

Anyone have an opinion on why Richie wants the Harrigans to attend Tommy's funeral?

I think it is to just reinforce that they weren't a part of killing Tommy. Or he knows they are responsible and wants to get them all in one spot to whack the whole family at once.

Maybe he still suspects them and wants to press them for info face to face and see if one of them will break.

I was thinking along those lines as well to have them all in one place to whack them at once. Wish they would just take out Maeve.

I don't understand the wife. Every episode she has gotten on Tom Hady's ass asking where he has been and what he has been doing and gets mad when he doesn't give details. Then she gives a speech about how she has never wanted to know about what he does.

Also, I think I need to add subtitles because I am a bit lost on who is backstabbing whom. It seems like everyone has a secret, and everyone is playing everyone.

She's giving off British Skylar vibes.

We did this after the first episode - had a heck of a time understanding half of what they were saying. Definitely helps.

Any british-based show I always go with subtitles.

Tom is a bit of a mumbler at times too.

Great ep as some pieces start to come together, have to wonder what the master plan is behind all this. I'm also enjoying how they balance the domestic everyday life side of this world with the we go and kill all these people and run drugs side of this world.

Also, this show is really subtly funny (as to be expected with Guy Ritchie).

"Do you like hospital food?"

"I'm no expert but it sounds a lot like Archie."

Quite a departure from her Downton Abbey character.

I think Maeve is the leaker to the police. She is setting it up to make Grandson Eddie the new Governor and leader of the family.

-She just needs to take out hubby/Conrad (Got him to kill Archie and now the police found the body, so Conrad may go to prison). She has to be tired of Conrad screwing all these women.
-Looks like she is setting up Harry to get taken out by Conrad for being only 1 of 2 people that knew where Archie was buried. Need Harry gone so Eddie can step over him.
-She doesn't think much of her son Kevin, so Eddie can pass him by too. Not sure if she has something in store for Kevin
-Maeve hates Seraphina (Conrad's illegitimate daughter). So, I am sure something bad will happen to her.
-The older son, Brendan is a loser. But, you have to wonder if he is doing something shady behind the scenes.

At the end of the day, I think Harry figures out Maeve is the one behind it all and takes her down in some way.

We shall see...

I'm waiting until the season is over (or close to it), to sign up for Paramount+ for a month. I bet I'm not alone.

I absolutely agree with you on Maeve and her motivation. She wants Eddie to take over the family, and is working to remove all opposition to it. The jealousy aspect is something we hadn't thought of before, and it makes a lot of sense. Long held anger may soon find its way out.
