Any Fantastic Four movie (2025 bucks the trend)
I came to the same conclusion when I realized the movie was not going to be the book. What I really liked about it was that it gave us another great sequence (modified in terms of who was involved but basically the same) from the original novel with the Tyrannosaur chasing people into a cave and trying to get at them with its tongue. In the book it was Grant and the kids; in the movie it was Malcolm, Harding, and a bunch of the other team, with one getting chomped after freaking out over a coral snake. Plus I loved the Godzilla reference at the end that started with the Tyrannosaur crashing through a sign that said no animals allowed into the States (something like that) and included the 4 Japanese dudes running down the road looking over their shoulders.Captain Winky said:
Maybe my Entertainment Board opinions suck, but I thought The Lost World movie was better than the book.
The first time I went to see the Lost World, it was flooding outside and they stopped the movie to evacuate the theater right after they capture the Big Rex. Given there wasn't much Internet back then, we had no idea there was all the stuff in San Diego until seeing it on TV 2 years later.Cinco Ranch Aggie said:I came to the same conclusion when I realized the movie was not going to be the book. Haha I know people don't like them but I enjoyed them. The movie sucked big time though, completely butchered it.The Original Houston 1836 said:AgTrip said:

The pandering to woke-ism, which a term I almost never, ever use - was the worst thing I've ever seen. Parzival casually trying every kind of sex out there was just awful. I know Cline is from Austin, but that was maybe the laziest book I've ever read. It was on level with the originality of The Hangover Part 2.AgTrip said:Haha I know people don't like them but I enjoyed them. And how can you not like Ready Player 2? Prince world would be awesome on the big screen!

The Peter Jackson Hobbit films
I've read Jurassic Park multiple times but The Lost World only recently. They should have shot The Lost World as a straight up horror movie and it could have been awesome. They really could have cranked up the tension from the first movie but they pivoted too far from the source material and made a bad movie. They still have to deal with Velociraptors, multiple T-Rex, and a couple of Carnotaurus as well.NColoradoAG said:Ill add a 4th Crichton book to the thread.Lucky Jack Aubrey said:
Timeline is the worst Michael Crichton movie adaptation ever! And it was actually a great book.
The Lost World. Great book that they completely butchered.
Basically, they've screwed up every Crichton book other than Jurassic Park and Rising Sun
I knew it was going to be bad when they announced it was going to be 3 movies.Claude! said:

On the Dark Tower: I enjoyed the times when it was a mix between Fantasy and Western like Wizard and Glass and The Wind Through the Keyhole. It would lose me when it became a nexus for all of King's other works. I hope the Amazon series focuses more on the Western/Fantasy blend.

I'm thinking about watching Borderlands this evening, will report back what a terrible movie it is. While the games are high art by any means, they're fun with some interesting characters and decent storylines.

All the Star Wars after the original 3
Almost every Stephen King novel (Shawshank was a short story)
But The Dark Tower was a bad movie but also had HORRIBLE source material... I can't understand how anyone likes these "novels" they are horrible.
I mean, if you're going to read through 8 novels and 4,250 pages of novels that you think are horrible, that's kind of on you.91_Aggie said:The Original Houston 1836 said:How many of them did you read?91_Aggie said:

I started it so I had to finish it... hoping it would lead somewhere... instead got the silly plot line of the author putting himself in the story

Atlas Shrugged
It's never really gotten the proper treatment it deserves. There have been a couple of mini-series versions, and that's probably the right format. But the poor execution, low budgets, and re-casting midway through the series just kind of ruined them.

I am Legend. Terrible movie that completely missed the point of the novel.
Enders Game. Such a great book and bad film
I'm not sure if Enders Game could have ever been a good film. When you have a Sixth Sense twist in your story and you know that going into the movie, then it's never going to be as good when you first read that book and had that holy **** moment. You can't ever get that back.HummingbirdSaltalamacchia said:

I refuse to watch that movie, and I love the Borderlands games. No Brick, no Mordecai, no Handsome Jack(the best villain), no Mr Torgue, terrible casting. I just can't watch it, and I was so excited when they first announced they were going to make a movie of it.
