I love the Congo movie. Probably because I saw it when I was younger, but the movie is awesome in my opinion.

That movie needs to be put on the endangered species list.

The Foundation series as well I tried watching the first episode a few weeks ago and found myself questioning if I had actually read the books or not because I didn't recognize anyone or know wTF was happening.

Foundation is basically unfilmable as a traditional movie. It's basically a collection of threaded short stories and novellas, threaded over 500 years.

Apple had a clever idea with the cloned Cleons but everything else was a complete **** show. The isn't bad, but it's not Foundation.

Queen of the Damned. Pretty decent book that the movie got nowhere close to. It tried to smash together its namesake and The Vampire Lestat and popped out a foul turd.

Compensated though by having one of the greatest soundtracks ever laid down to a film and that is a hill I will die on.

Damn, I loved that book. I thought the movie was a huge letdown.

The final season of game of thrones. I guess technically there isn't source material yet.

The movie added new elements that just weren't as consistently funny as Adam's original radioplay, BBC script, and books. I'll keep watching the BBC TV version, thanks.

The complete misuse of Michael B. Jordan in Clancy's, Without Remorse.
Hor_Ib_Bull movie. I got a little over halfway through it before I turned it off.

Total waste of Jordan's talent and star power.

Hitchhikers guide to the Galaxy for sure was one. There was enough material to make a trilogy and instead we got less than 2 hr of crap.

Also Shooter was a let down from what Stephen Hunter wrote. Bob Lee Swagger is a great character and the movie just didn't capture that.

Books are almost always better than the movies.

Rare exception of being the other way around -The Godfather. Very average mafia book - yet one of the bets movies ever.

This is actually a good idea for an Entertainment Board topic. Movies that are actually better than the book. I just don't know it would be a very long thread.

Is season 7/8 Game of Thrones eligible for nomination since RR can't get off his ass and write a proper ending?

How about a new category?

Horrible book made into an even more horrible movie.

I nominate The French Lieutenant's Woman.
The last thing I want to do is hurt you. But, it's still on the list.

Also - Bringing Down The House - the MIT card counting story was a great book. The movie 21 with an over the top Kevin Spacey was bad bad.

IIRC, the puzzle to get the Babel Fish was pretty complicated.

I would have liked to have seen a movie adaptation of Leisure Suit Larry.

I don't know if a real life story counts as "source material," but Alexander the Great deserves an epic biopic that doesn't suck.

There are several other options if true stories count for this thread.
I'm listening to a Hardcore History podcast on him and I would prefer the series be about his dad Philip II and his crazy mom Olympia the snake lady.

Are you saying that 1963's "Alexander The Great" starring William Shatner AND Adam West was not a great film ? A pox on you and the horse you rode in on!

That is a Great listen.

I've never seen the film he is referring to, but he did say that in his mind Angilnia Jolie nailed her role.

I've read it, good book, but never saw the movie.

I always liked Crichton books. Did they ever make a movie for Prey? I liked that book, kinda under the radar

Honestly I don't know. I read the book years ago. It would make for a good movie.
