What are some movies from the last 60 years or so that are good, but we don't really talk about? I need to update my list of movies to watch.

A few of mine are :

Election

No Way Out (we discussed this after Hackman's weird passing)

Target (not trying to make this a Hackman thread)

Urban Cowboy

Fantastic cast - lovingly filmed. Loved so much about this movie but the long no cut shot of making a simple omelette to end the movie is perfect.

The Apostle - a labor of love by Robert Duvall.

IMHO the best portrayal of evangelical religiosity on film. Duvall in a tour de force role as a flawed but earnest true believer in the power of JESUS. I'm not a believer but this movie shows the positive power of faith for true believers. And I respect that.

Also I always thought Eight Men Out was a pretty good sports movie

Pan's Labyrinth. Will beat that drum forever here, maybe top 5 fantasy film ever…Such a unique mix of fantasy, set against actual evil, WW2 etc.
8.2 on IMDB, 95 critic and 91 percent fan approval on RT, beloved by critics everywhere, and it's rarely even mentioned anymore. Never shown on cable, just seems forgotten. Such a shame.

Big Fish. This is my favorite Tim Burton movie that I feel like gets washed out when discussing Burton's body of work. But it is such a great journey that is beautifully crafted.
