My favorite movie opening ever, slow build to genuine laughs. It was in the context of the times and movie in pop culture then, so maybe doesn't hold up well, but still makes ME laugh.

Well, 1:50 to 3:30 specifically in the video below.

I hope they get this one right and it starts a small revival of some traditional (ridiculous style) comedies which would be very welcome.

It was a good ride for a while, but the raunchy shock comedies have gotten old. And as fun as it is to watch modern "comedies" tiptoe around social issues, I think it's more than time to bring back some old school comedy. I know a lot of us Gen X'ers and Boomers will enjoy it... hopefully the Millenials and some Gen Z'ers will join in!

Pullman as Skrewb?

Are we gonna get Lewis Pullman to play Lonestar and they will make Nepo baby jokes?

Quote:

Sources tell The Hollywood Reporter that Lewis Pullman will play a character named Starburst, the sun of Queen Vespa (Zuniga) and Lone Starr (Bill Pullman). Franchise newcomer Keke Palmer will play a role by the name of Destiny. The two, along with Gad, are the leads.

So Gad is going to be Puke or Hurl, son of Barf?

Basically dead, unfortunately. It's a long, drawn-out story I can't get into publicly. We keep it on the site because it still looks good for the company "resume," in terms of development. But yeah, it didn't work for reasons beyond our control. Many lessons learned, though.

Not familiar with that book but that's a shame. Always up for new sci-fi.

This is why 80s PG comedies are the best. The sexual innuendo flew completely over your head as an 8 year old and made rewatching even better in later years. And the profanity is well placed and hilarious at different levels at all ages. I'm in Josh Gad's zone where I probably watched this much more often as a kid than Star Wars. My family loved comedies for movie night - naked gun, ghostbusters, hot shots, airplane, Mel brooks and zucker-abrahams-zucker etc. This one was on one of my mom's VHS triple features where she would squeeze in 3 random movies recorded off HBO on a 360 minute vhs tape like spaceballs, iron eagle and terms of endearment

I had one videotape with Fletch and Dragnet on it. Then another with Young Guns 1+2. Another with Romancing the Stone and Jewel of the Nile.

Pairing up Fletch and Dragnet was a coincidence but a perfect VHS.

All action and dialogue of this scene improvised on the spot by Rick Moranis

Ha, I had no idea that was all improvised. My son was quoting that well before he realized what it was in reference to...just like his old man back when I was an innocent kid also.

I can't wait to buy that sweatshirt.

And this truly succeeds if they let Mel just do his thing. Can't believe he would ever care about PC, especially at this age. Several years ago we watched a viewing of Blazing Saddles and he showed up to answer questions. That guy was still funny as hell and gave no ****s.
