That is very good to make up for the weaker international market

I wonder if this movie featuring the embodiment of the American spirit (or whatever) is hurting abroad due to perception of political developments here. Not sure why it would be doing worse than other big films given it's been received as pretty positive and enjoyable.

unless there's some numbers missing though that simply ain't gonna be enough…which sucks cause I want this film to do well…

Well if I wasn't all in on James Gunn vision I am now. The last movie my dad got to see was Superman on Saturday. He held my hand during Pa Kent and Clarke scene. He just went home to Jesus. I will always be grateful for this movie and universe he is starting because I got to share that with my dad

I am so sorry for your loss. But I am glad he got to share that experience with you.

Oh, man. My condolences. That's both heartbreaking and incredible. Not many people get to have moments like that with a loved one before they go.

We knew of his heart failure about 2 months ago and honestly he rocked rehab so well we started to wonder if the docs got it wrong. But he was definitely pretty weak Saturdaybut wanted to see the movie. We had a great time and my 3.5 year old nephew came as well. He was scared but afterwards was asking if he could watch Superman at home repeatedly. My dad started to decline pretty rapidly after I left.

I got to say my goodbyes multiple times over the last several months so I don't feel terribly bad not being there especially since he was not awake or lucid the last two days. I was already going tomorrow so I can take care of my mother and sister. I definitely start weeping as I think of our moments together during that scene. Prayers for a safe drive to Lubbock tomorrow from DFW

I'm very sorry to read of your loss. Hold onto those memories of your dad. Write some down. And revisit them anytime you find yourself missing him. He'll always be with you in spirit.
Thanks and gig'em

God bless you and your family. I took my 9 year old daughter Friday as we had planned for months. Six hours earlier I learned my mother has stage 4 metastatic breast cancer. Not quite the same but it gave me a couple of hours to take my mind off it and for that I'm eternally grateful. We got some good news Monday and I was able to tell my parents to go see it themselves.

Praying for you and your family.

I think that's def part of it, especially in the Chinese market. I also think this movie is not meant to make a billion, I think it's partially to prove to fans that DC can make a good movie that isn't about Batman. Feels a lot like Batman Begins coming back to repair the damage that Batman and Robbin did to that franchise. As a massive DC fan, the DCEU ended up doing psychic damage to me outside of like 3-4 movies, I can't imagine how much it hurt the brand for general audiences. It was way more important for this movie to be generally liked.

Obviously the Asian market prefers Jurassic Park. It reminds them of….

The Batman Begins thing might be a good analogy. It didn't do gang busters, but the next two movies did over a billion once people knew a good product was coming.

I hate to root for WB but I like these characters and would like to see them represented properly on the big screen. I think doing Supergirl as the next movie is a pretty big risk, but Milly is a good actress and the source material is great so we'll just have to see.

Definitely a risk, but we will see if Gunn is serious about the whole "we only greenlight great scripts" thing. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE the comic the movie is based on, but following up a "Super" movie with another one is risky.

Supergirl and Clayface as the next two movies is a bit of an odd choice. You finally get back in general audience's good graces, and you immediately ask them to get invested in two side characters who barely anyone that's not a comics nerd cares about.

That said, it did work for the MCU with Iron Man and Thor, so there's that. (Though at least those were true protagonists in their own comics.)

I guess I also see the logic in not wanting to immediately recast the A tier characters like Batman and Wonder Woman.

I think stuff like the clay face and swamp thing movies is a good thing to try tho. The Horror genre historically has been a great way to make money without spending much so I think it's a safe try financially.

That and after she turned in the supergirl script they immediately asked her to start a Teen Titans one.

But Iron Man and Thor were part of the MCU. "The Batman" is not. The DCU Batman will make his debut in "The Brave and the Bold" if things go according to plan for the DCU. I presume Batman will be recast for that.

Titans and Teen Titans are an untapped gold mine for DC. I really hope they get to do it.

I'm 26, myself and most people I know grew up watching the original show. My brother is 20 and when he was growing up, the Teen Titans GO show was on and pretty popular. It would be massive if they could pull it off.

I need the Hall of Justice to appear in every movie and be at some theme park I can visit.

And apparently it's a real building in Cincinnati, and here I am wasting my time on TexAgs.

The building where the had the kiss is in Cleveland. My dad grew up in Akron and he straight up did the DiCaprio pointing gif in the theater when they walked in that building. Some of those Midwestern cities have some really pretty buildings.

It was a lot of fun. I'll call it the second best Superman movie I've seen, behind 1978's Superman: The Movie.

not true for me. I wasn't impressed by the previews and didn't have this on my list. Heard good stuff from people that saw it and checked it out. Really liked this movie a lot. Great summer movie. I want to see it again too.

I also liked Guardians of the Galaxy. If you like Guardians, I think you will like this movie.

Saw it last night with my 8 and 5yo boys. The 8yo was glued to his seat and loved it, the 5yo was a bit lost in the middle but loved the ending. I had to tell him we don't clap at the end of movies in our family.

I thought it was great, it was funny and had heart. Very much GotG. The superman theme and Gunn music drops were fantastic. Loved the cast. Lex's monologue was excellent. I am already ready to see it again with my wife.
