Man, I wanted to like this movie, but it was just so, so bad. Really disappointing.

I've called CPS. They will be placing your sons with a proper, loving family where clapping at the end of movies is not only accepted, but encouraged.

Yes. Thank you. Disappointed is a mature way to express how I felt. I'll leave it there.

Didn't help that the popcorn machine was under maintenance at Bob Bullock. Maybe that was it. I'll blame the popcorn machine…

If you clap for movies you clap for plane landings right?
I'll applaud live performances, but this is a movie on a screen.

No exaggeration, in LA I've experienced the audience clapping at the end of a movie at least 50 times. Hell, maybe even twice that, it's so common for a good movie. And these are just normal, opening weekend showings, not premieres or anything where the filmmakers are present, and not a rousing, overly enthusiastic round of applause either. It's simply a mannered expression of enthusiasm/show of appreciation. Just because the filmmakers aren't there to hear it is irrelevant. Rather, it's a communal thing; a quick little shared celebration of the thing we just experienced together, that we all loved, etc.

It's great!

But if you guys want to be a bunch of snobs/Scrooges//Debbie Downers, go right ahead.

Have you ever cheered for a sporting event on TV? The players can't hear you.

The movie was just not that memorable the day after I watched it. In my onion, there was never that outstanding scene, line, visual that made me say wow that was truly fantastic. The movie was ok ,and mildly entertained me for 2 hours, but I doubt I watch it again, even on free streaming later on.

I'm with you 90% of the time, but on this issue c'mon. You live in the Mecca of filmmaking. The audience in those theaters is absolutely of a different mindset about movies than the average theater-going audience in Boise, ID, Tampa, FL, Aimes, IA, etc.

I've heard audience reactions during movies (like when Cap used Thor's hammer in Endgame, and BTW I was one of those who reacted). But Endgame may be the only movie I can remember where the audience clapped afterwards.

I thought it was good, not great. While I don't need an origin story, this movie was a bit jarring the first half and took some time for me to get into.

Honestly if you go to basically any genre/Nolan film opening night/weekend, you will get clapping at the end of the movie.

I only recall clapping in a movie 4 times:

1984 at the end of Red Dawn
1989 when River Phoenix morphed into Harrison Ford in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade
2018 when Thor arrived in Wakanda in Avengers Infinity War
2019 when Captain America wielded Mjolinar (no idea if that is how it's spelled) in Avengers Endgame

I did not participate in any of that non-sense.

Don't recall telling you that you can't do it. Feel free.
, it doesn't ruin my experience.
The rest of us might think it's nerdy/corny, but we're not going to stop you, lol.
And to be fair to you, when I hear someone saying the audience appluadd/cheered for a movie I definitely imagine a standing ovation haha

I think the real question is, did you group up as a clapper or did you not start doing it until you got in the business.
Family trait or learned behavior?
This goes for all, I know my parents didn't growing up and none of my friends did. Maybe im missing out, lol

There was applause at the end of the Superman showing I was at in Bryan last weekend.

I didn't clap, but I'm a curmudgeon that doesn't clap at anything, including Aggie sports. Not that Aggie sports ever gives much to clap at.

I've clapped a ton of times at movies. **** I can remember the audience ERUPTING in cheers when Vader picked up Palpatine near the end of Return of the Jedi.

Huge applause after opening night of The Force Awakens, Endgame, Indpendence Day - in College Station - for that one; people cheering loudly when Rocky knocks out Drago in Rocky IV, - those are just off the top of my head.

Do you guys also not laugh during the movie because the actors can't appreciate that you find their jokes funny?

Missed opportunity: the dialogue should have had someone saying "meanwhile'" right when the Hall of Justice appeared.

Can people get as much into a movie as they want? And we can just let them and not judge them either way?

As long as people aren't talking during the movie and I can hear whats going on, I don't care if they do/don't react tbh. But part of the fun of a theater is watching WITH people. Because people DO react to movies when they love them.

But also, I get that we want to be cool and just be quiet and cool and stuff so yeah.

C'mon. Watching sporting events is completely different, you know that. And of course everyone laughs and reacts during movies. Like I said, one of the biggest in-movie reactions I can remember was Cap using Mjolnir in Endgame. I also remember the whole audience dying with laughter throughout There's Something About Mary when that first came out.

I'm no curmudgeon, but clapping at the end? Ehhhhhhhh.

That's great.

I just don't get applauding for what is a static product. It's not like I am seeing these movies alongside Harrison Ford or Chris Evans. Would I cheer or hoot-and-holler after reading some particular awesome sequence in a Tom Clancy novel ('Merica, F yeah!) - Nope. Typically when I watch a ball game on TV, I'm not doing a lot of noise making, although I will admit to yelling loud enough to wake the neighbor's cat when the Blanket got that pick-6 on the sips last Thanksgiving.

But in front of a live performance of some sort, such as the Houston Symphony performing the score live to The Empire Strikes Back earlier this year, yep, it seemed appropriate to celebrate their performance.

You do you, if you want to cheer at a film, knock yourself out.

My best friend and I were talking about the HoJ 20 minutes later. My absolute favorite thing from the movie. We joked they should have had a cartoon-accurate Aquaman in the background fiddling with the computer since he always got left behind on missions into space and so forth.
