Anyone been to one of the REK fan appreciation concert day? How was it? Worth going to? Got selected for the free lottery today, anyone else?

Never been, but I'm sure its worth going to if you like REK/Texas Country. They do song swaps and stuff.

I got my email yesterday. Entered on a whim since I'm going to be in the area, not expecting to win.

But I'm looking forward to it, and to seeing John T. Floore's.

Got a +1 if anyone is going to be around and can use it.

Too last minute for me to talk anyone else into it, and I can't think of anyone I know in San Antonio who still speaks to me.

I signed up for the free drawing but it wouldn't allow me to select a pair of tickets so if I win I have to go by myself?

the website says one time, the email said another, so i reached out for clarification,, here is the planned schedule for Monday:

Doors open at 2pm
Music on the indoor stage is 2:30-4pm
Music on the outdoor stage is 4pm-10:15
Robert Earl Keen will close out the night playing from 9:15-10:15.

I have GA for Saturday night but never been to Floore's before. What's the view like from there, how early before the start should we arrive to get a good spot?

I'm about 90% sure he's got Parkinson's.

And please don't bbq me for this because I know it's not good to speculate but i have a dad who's been living with it about 10 years and their movement to and spastic motions are almost identical

his voice is still the same but he can barely play his guitar and can't keep up with his band

When is it and how do we watch it?

Been enjoying it. Didn't notice anything off about REK, but was kind of just listening and not paying attention on screen.

i noticed last night he wasn't actually strumming much, but, thinking about another guy i know that has parkinsons, i think you may be right

Watched a fair amount of it and enjoyed it. I liked that they sent 3 guys out at a time to trade off. Particularly enjoyed the Hayes Carll/Radney Foster/Ray Wylie Hubbard set and the Ryan Bingham/Jamey Johnson/Cody Jinks sets.

I went last year. There were many openers (Cody Canada and Ray Benson were the 2 biggest names last year, to me anyway) played a few songs each and REK came out for his full set. I would say REK came out around 8 or so. Left my phone in the car because it was raining most of the time. Tickets were free so yeah it was worth going to.

Last time I was at Floore's was about 20 years ago for a Willie Show. Had backstage passes and watched the show from the soundboard. As a result, I really don't have any advice, just wanted to brag about that.

I bartended at the Whatewater show last night. There were a lot of Ags in attendance! Everyone put on a shirt but great set, so many good artists packed into one show.

I'll be bartending at Floores on Saturday. It sucks I'll be missing the game but it should be a blowout.

Would not doubt it. Father in Law has it and I can see some things that line up with early stages.

Wife and I drove all the way.to Helotes and REK cancelled. No refunds either. Bummer I have wanted to see him live for years but never pulled the trigger until this time.

I didn't, I was bartending. I volunteered to get cut to watch the game at Pete's. I would email them. It's my understanding that they were going to accommodate everyone.

American Aquarium is putting on a good show, with a lightning backdrop.

I'm attempting to get a refund thru StubHub but problem is Floores hasn't reported the cancellation and I can't get a refund until the event status is updated to StubHub.

Oh well guess I just have to wait and hope they do the right thing.

I'm sure they'll figure it out. It came out of nowhere. It caught everyone by surprise so they're working on the fly with this.

It doesn't surprise me though. REK has been sitting down in his shows for many years. Thursday night at the benefit he sounded great but you could tell he wasn't playing guitar. I can be a harsh critic when it comes to live music and like I said, he sounded great on Thursday night but there is a crud going around. I'll be there Monday night, hopefully he feels better to perform tomorrow & Monday. REK was the first Texas country artist that I followed religiously!

There's a chance it'll be crowded, it just depends on whether or not people take advantage of the free tix. There are a good amount of people here now.

I ended up having to cancel, so there will a little extra room for the other folks to fill.

*Since they were still sending out winning emails kind of last minute, I doubt they were expecting a capacity crowd for today.
