These kinds of discussions always crack me up.
We automatically assume that young people won't like old folks' music, and we give them a pass. At the same time, we mock older people who don't like young people music.
But aren't both age groups expressing the same thing? You like what you're familiar with. It's been that way since the introduction of modern music and the availability of different genres.
In 30 years, today's kids will be asking the Super Bowl to "bring back Bad Bunny" and their kids will be turning up their noses.
On a side note, I have a deep appreciation for music from before my time. And my kids appreciate the music of my youth (much of which they learned from "Glee" or playing Rock Band). But I realize there's a difference between appreciation and loving what's new and fresh.
Yep. I will also add that true good music can be popular with literally any generation just as long as those people are somehow exposed to it. It's no coincidence how old music can can suddenly shoot up the charts and be loved by a younger audience when it shows up in modern shows and movies (ex. Guardians of the Galaxy).
With that said, it should be no surprise that the NFL and other sports entertainment leagues predominately pick entertainment that is the biggest thing in current worldwide pop culture and not just American pop culture. Because believe it or not, the vast diversity of the worldwide audience has a lot more appeal than white men over 40 who only speak English. I personally would rather see Journey, Metallica, or Foo Fighters over Bad Bunny, but cannot deny that Bad Bunny simply has much more entertainment appeal over all of them combined currently.
