It's a lot like some of the movies that were based on SNL skits back in the 90s. They take a funny skit and try to flesh it out into a full length movie or show and the result is silly but good enough for some laughs. Think " A Night at the Roxbury" as an example

Ted Lasso.

Loved Ted Lasso. Maybe chuckled once or twice at "Chad" but pretty much meh for me. Different strokes...

My point is it doesn't have to be bad.

Nothing wrong with not liking a show. It is odd to not like a show then go to a thread about it though.

But as you said, different strokes.

But that show was awesome but watching it now it's really bad.

Watched the latest episode last night. Two things made me laugh uncontrollably: Ben Franklin and "I've gotta go doo-doo"

Trish is probably my second-favorite character. She can account for at least two LOL moments per episode for me.

Really moved the plot forward with this ep, liked how they addressed it in a fairly realistic way and not a "oh wow ok let's all move on" type of thing. Nice to dig a bit under the harsh outer shell of Russ too.

Definitely sets the stage for things to get very complicated in the next few episodes, should be fun.

Doesn't Season 1 only have six episodes?

Yep. No followup seasons greenlit yet but the writer said they have 2-3 seasons in mind.
Who knows when Powell would have time to film again though

Had no idea, kind of annoying. Guess we'll have to wait and see.

Really love this show.

Russ is such a ****ing ass hole but he slowly grows as a person starting with the Halloween episode.

The last episode was great but quite the tonal shift of the show. The scene with his dad was really touching. Both him and Rickie took a villainous turn at the end which wa surprising but felt real for both of them

Cast is just great and seems like everyone is having fun

Watched this all the way through while at home nursing a Dad-cold the other day (as my wife calls it). I thought it was pretty good and funny in parts. Would def watch a 2nd season if it comes out.

The chick who plays Ricky, the assistant coach/head coaches daughter, is married to Mark Sanchez.. oof.

so, how exactly is he supposed to ultimately be considered a good guy when it all comes out who he really is and the school ends up having to forfeit the season?

Sorry, I get weird with football shows/movies, kind of like the end of Varsity Blues when they win, but he says he never played another down..... ok, this was the regular season, and you won.... does your part of Texas not have playoffs????

Maybe I missed it, but it still seems like Russ is the villain. When Rickey said she would out him if he stayed around the team, he called her out saying she wouldn't and he would keep playing. I didn't get the vibe Rickey told the head ball coach about Chad/Russ.

They are going to probably twist a few rules but he likely has a year of eligibility left. Waldron said the georgia game was his junior year in a recent interview. I can absolutely see this leaking before the championship and he enters as himself

I meant more of a villain for him. There was contempt and hatred towards him.

Saw a video earlier of Powell saying he modeled his style of play after Johnny Manziel.

I knew it! Told my husband everything about his playing style was Manziel, right down to his jersey number. But hadn't heard until I saw your post that he confirmed it.

Glen and Johnny were at one of the Dodgers games together recently on social media (obviously World Series).

Fun show - cast is great.

I don't ever expect sports shows to get all the technical stuff right, but I do feel like the Mannings are trolling me personally by having zero of the playcalls match the formation the team lines up in.

I thought this show was just ok. The framework was there for a really good show, which is insane to me, because the first thing I thought of when I heard this was being made was the Geico caveman show. I think this show was hamstrung by the limited number of episodes and what I imagine to be a shoestring budget. The Ole Miss game episode was by far, the best of the season and there needed to be more of that. Instead, it was followed by the crapfest pointless filler episode of Chad and the mascot dude going around trying to find glue.
