I don't have a huge emotional connection with Rob Reiner, but I was one of the dozens of people who saw Spinal Tap 2 in the theater a few months ago, and I downloaded it from Apple for full price. That movie was comforting to me during a tough time.
He had a great body of work. It sucks that this is how his life ended.

How was that? I still haven't watched it and now it may be tough. May need to wait.
I introduced my adult son (30) to the original a few months ago and he loved it. We kind of bonded over it as we are both classic rock fans anyway and he proudly now wears a "These Got to 11" t-shirt with the amplifier knobs.

Absolute legend, can't think of another director who could do so many completely different genres with absolute mastery.
Haven't watched the Spinal Tap sequel yet but it's definitely going to hit a bit differently. He will be missed.

The Princess Bride and When Harry met Sally are two of my all time favorite movies and had a profound impact on me as a teenager.
There is a scene in When Harry.. where Billy Crystal and Bruno Kirby are at the giants game, and Harry is discussing the brutal breakup of his marriage. It's this dark and darkly funny convo that is punctuated by them repeatedly pausing to do the wave as it comes through their section of the stadium. That is such a brilliantly written and directed scene and it's so funny to have this guy say "she said I don't know if I EVER loved you" then stand up for the wave.
His Albert Brooks doc on HBO was hysterical and such a lovely insight into their friendship growing up together.

We’re doing an extra @TheRewatchables episode on Wednesday to honor the great Rob Reiner. It’s a movie we’ve wanted to do for years, only it’s never been available on streaming. (We are doing it anyway.) Will be our 7th Reiner film. pic.twitter.com/KDHCPxfEWD
