The local Fox station in Dallas ran a story on Reiner, and was showing clips of his movies while the reporter talked. When they showed the clip from Spinal Tap, the reporter paused and they included audio from the clip...Nigel at the piano telling Marty "this is called Lick My Love Pump".

Sort of a "Mach" piece, really.

his role in Wolf of Wall St was apparently pretty accurate. You can hear him going all "Mad Max" in the background here

How boring would that movie have been if they made it super realistic? I was expecting him to go crazy at some point and he was basically just droning on and no one was listening to him. They God significant creative liberties are taken in these types of films.

Rob was Hollywood royalty in my view. Having been a huge fan of his father's, and then Rob was always around my whole life.

It's just a very sad end.

I don't recall The Sure Thing. Guess I haven't seen that.

My link I posted still works and is actually decent quality. I was 15 when this movie was released and never heard of it, which is kind of shocking but it sounds like many haven't either.

I'm over half-way through the movie now and it's pretty good, definitely has some When Harry Met Sally vibes on the big cross country road trip. Need to finish it before tomorrow so I can enjoy the Rewatchables.

Side note: Simmons really has a hit with that show. Tarantino has been on 3 times and he just had Cameron Crowe on when they did Shampoo and he gifted Bill a framed photo of Cush at SMU that was used in Jerry Maguire.

supposedly TMZ tracked down the family had a huge fight at Conan O'Briens party on Saturday night

they must have gone back to the main house where the son snapped.

can you imagine the horror of the daughter who went over there and discovered the bodies?!?

did the son live with them?!

The son lived in the guest house on the property.

terrible

and this being a stabbing, he surely killed Rob and then turned on his mother next - the shock of it coming to that must have been awful for them in the moment - very sad

I'm curious the son's response to all of this once he came out of the episode he was in

He's being held without bond, just charged with two counts of first degree murder. Didn't appear in court as he had not been medically cleared to leave the jail, per his attorney, will be arraigned and enter a plea once he is.

And he made Rob Morrow real mad by making fun of Morrow's Boston accent in Quiz Show.

Finished it and it was a good movie, very solid and definitely a precursor to When Harry Met Sally and a nice ending. Ironic that he didn't want a happy ending to When Harry Met Sally until he met his wife and reshot the ending with them getting together.

Definitely worth a watch with a nice cameo from Tim Robbins, Nicollette Sheridan (as "the sure thing") and Anthony Edwards when he had hair circa Revenge of the Nerds. Also Daphne Zuniga, who I will always remember as Princess Vespa from Spaceballs. There's even a scene where she admits as a girl she always dreamed of being a princess...well, I guess her wish came true two years later.

This intersection (San Vicente & 26th in Brentwood) is just a few blocks from where I lived for 12 years. I jogged on that exact median hundreds of times. Where I lived was also two blocks from where OJ killed Nicole (I used to see the murder tour busses all the time). Crazy that two infamous celebrity murders have now occurred within basically a mile radius of each other, if not less, in one of the nicest, most wealthiest neighborhoods in the country (for the record I lived in the apartment blocks, not the super-nice-houses area), and both killers traveled San Vicente on the way to the scene of the crime...

Ha, that was right before I moved to Brentwood, like a mile or so away. At the little 12-unit apartment complex we lived in, in the unit next to ours was Taran Killam, Mikey Day, and a couple of their roommates. They were all aspiring actors at the time, and Taran was dating Cobie Smulders (they're married now with kids), and though she didn't live there she used to be over there all the time. We lived next door to them for three years, which happened to correspond with the first three seasons of How I Met Your Mother. It was pretty crazy. We all moved out at around the same time and then Taran got cast on SNL a couple years later. He then got Mikey a job writing for the show, and that's how Mikey eventually became a cast member.

Nick Reiner will be represented by Alan Jackson, who is a very very good defense attorney. He was the prosecutor in the Phil Spector trial, successfully represented Kevin Spacey, unsuccessfuly represented Harvey Weinstein, and most recently won the high-profile case of Karen Read in Massachussets.

IMO he probability of an insanity defense seems pretty high. Would be a very difficult burden for the defense though.

Totally agree. I would assume insanity defense.

Kiddoc and I have been talking about trying to find "The Sure Thing" for months now. We both just remember it as a really funny movie with smart humor and interesting characters. I'm thrilled we were able to use the link posted but I hate the circumstance under which it was posted.

The one scene that took me "out of the movie" was the scene where they're discussing baby names and Gib suggests "Nick" is the best name because "Nick's your buddy, Nick's your friend. Nick doesnt care if you throw up in his car." Sad reminder.

Otherwise, watching it so many years later did provide a somewhat different perspective since I was able to identify the parallels with WHMS but I enjoyed it just as much as I ever did. The secondary characters are some of the best of any movie out there.

I was born in 1981 so I haven't seen some of these movies that wouldn't have appealled to me as a child, but I googled "The Sure Thing", and was immediately SMACKED by nostalgia. Pretty sure I stared at this one a lot lol.

Funny how just seeing movie covers that you recognize from browsing Blockbuster as a kid brings back such good vibes. I've been exploring films from that era that I may have been too young for at the time lately and I may have to check this one out

With a bit of a grain of salt since it's page six and the daily mail….but at that party at Conan's Nick acted erratically enough that some people there apparently wanted to call the police and get him into a psychiatric hold. Conan allegedly said no to the cops coming. If it's true, I can only imagine how the people at that party feel.

So sad, Rob seemed like a great guy and family man, twitter fingers aside.

I cant imagine how difficult it is to love your son who is struggling with addiction, but he never gave up on Nick.
