They are, definitely more indie/pop than rock. When I was growing up I was strictly Thrash, Heavy Metal, Death Metal, Industrial, etc. But as I got older I broadened my tastes and now very eclectic. Some very talented Metal musician friends of mine are the ones that got me there and started to appreciate music in a different light. Geese are definitely an acquired taste, but they definitely offer something unique and non-traditional in their genre. But we're all different so won't be for everyone.

I think it's telling of the current state of the music industry that we didn't even get a thread discussing nominations and winners on this board. The Grammys seem to have become irrelevant compared to the past.

And I think that's because most of mainstream music has melded into hip hop / pop. Zero rock involved so I personally have zero interest in caring or watching.

I also saw something somewhere showing an analysis of the variability of the music being produced and what's popular. The standard deviation in actual (I'm going to get this wrong) octaves / sound / etc in songs has basically flat-lined over the last several years. There is very little actual musical range in songs now.

Actual music question here, no sarcasm. Who is the best rock band on the planet right now? What was the best rock album of 2025? I love all genres, but I couldn't answer this for myself off the top of my head just now, so before I go to Google...

No clue and don't even have an opinion on it other than I think the last big rock band was probably The Foo Fighters. Not sure if they are still doing stuff.

I'll have to check out the bands mentioned on here. I've occasionally listened to the New Rock(?) channel on Apple Music which is about the only and easiest way I'll find new stuff.

Every time my older girls get out of the car at school my 4 year old asks me to turn the radio to "Daddy's rock music" which is mostly misfits/black flag/Ramones on misfits radio on live one. The kids are gonna be alright.
