Sure it counts, I had a two count fill for an intro posted early

Almost posted Poison by Bell Biv Devoe earlier if electronic drums are included.

Whoever the engineer was on that recording is a wizard. That snare hits so hard. And it sounds good on any speaker

honestly, as a drummer of 30+ years, I've never even said/used the term 'drum riff'.

For the purpose of this thread, I would have worded it 'song that starts with drums'

In that case, don't you forget about me fits the criteria.. that snare is iconic!

Just one less hit than deftones my own summer.

Not a hit, but I've always loved the way "Heartlight" by Kenny Loggins starts. Plus there's a bonus cricket sound!!

God loves you so much He'll meet you where you are. He also loves you too much to allow to stay where you are.

Yes, but the percussion intro to Mannix (composed by the legendary Lalo Schifrin) is spectacular too.

Since Levee is already posted, I think this technically qualifies by a split second?

Just a great drum track though.

The great Tris Imboden was the drummer on "Footloose." He was a member of Kenny's band for many years and later the drummer for Chicago.

Well back in my day we did play a Mancini song from the 1966 Blake Edward's war comedy "What Did You Do in the War, Daddy?" Called "Swing March." It starts with a similar drum cadence to that one. We played it and Arkie played it. They still do.

I was there - you were 2 years behind me! I also remember tunes like St. Louis Blues and The Stripper for Bball at G.Rollie. The FTAB was made for all that stuff.
