I believe that if this is made, it will fail. Epically.

Like Harrison Ford and Indiana Jones, Kurt Russell IS Snake Plissken. While there might be an actor able to perform the Plissken role, that actor can never match the awesomeness that Kurt Russell brought to it.

When Snake is in Hauk's office and is told the "president's plane went down", he asks, "President of what?" Anyone else is just repeating lines written on paper, with KR you get the sense that he believes it. "Get a new president" is another example. He oozes a don't-give-a-rip about everything, except maybe those explosive charges deteriorating in his veins.

You'll never get such an awesome sequence as landing a glider atop the WTC. Mostly because that no longer exists, but also because it'll be CGI and not freaking real models.

The Duke of New York? Maybe the Gay Queen of New York, otherwise it's racist.

The duel to the death in the ring? Nope, way too vicious and violent.

The President will likely be portrayed much more sympathetically - otherwise why would someone want to mount such a mission to rescue a Donald Trump type of President? I'd guess the President in this remake will have an annoying cackle.

Only in if that role is played by someone like Danny McBride or Walton Goggins and it is simultaneously a comedy and a nod to the original.

I think it's folly to try and remake John Carpenter movies. Every attempt has failed because you can't improve near perfection. And we've said this before, but Carpenter's cinematic run back then is one of the best ever.

Escape from Earth was supposed to be the third installment in the "Escape from…" franchise. Either go with that or just pick a different city, there's no need to remake a classic.

Maybe they could use his son? Worm Plisken.

Looks like him and sounds just like young KR. After starting S1 of Monarch, I was kind of blown away how much like KR he is.

Still a terrible idea to remake this no matter what.

Wyatt Russell is the only acceptable choice if a remake has to happen. He does look and sound very much like his dad. But no to remaking this masterpiece. They already tried and failed with both Halloween and The Fog. And the mere suggestion of remaking Big Trouble in Little China should result in an internet implosion.

Josh Brolin? Maybe but he has never pulled off the anti-hero type character.

Tom Hardy might be the only actor I could see working out.
