This made me laugh as well. She puts on a sleek dress and 4 inch heels to drive from the Valley to DFW and back and still looks immaculate when she makes it back home

I don't think they are in the Valley. I would say someplace north of Laredo. Even then, a day trip is a nogo

Exactly.

I don't know why they didn't just have it set in North Texas or whatever to make the geography/timeline/distance fit.

Continutity is a big deal on the sets of these things....except for travel distance/timelines etc.

Sheridan has always been loose with travel times/distances. Sometimes in Yellowstone it took hours to get from town to the ranch, sometimes 5 minutes.

Its almost like TS doesn't give a **** what anyone but himself thinks. (Yes, I realize he didn't write Dutton Ranch)

I get the feeling the ranch needs to be close to Mexico for other reasons, I guess we'll find out.

It's weird though that in Landman, a big part of the show is how not easy it is for Billy Bob to get back and forth from Midland to Forth Worth, but they just said to hell with it on Dutton Ranch.

I don't have a problem with the location shots of the ranch. 100 miles from the border. ..Look at what is 100 miles from Del Rio as the crow flies. Leakey, Rio Frio, Uvalde, etc. Bandera isn't much further.

Now, the shots of the 10 Petal Ranch is another matter. The drone shot of the sprawling mansion in the first episode defintely looks more like it's south of Dallas (Ferris).

They use the plane a lot, but he also made a few day trips from Midland to FW, which isn't as bad as south TX to FW, but still a pretty good hike.

Also, Carter ain't falling asleep with Oreana in his bed with only a T-shirt on. I don't care how much pot he smoked.

There is going to be some kind of connection between Benning's character and the Cartel. Proximity to the border makes it much more feasible.

Not that they're comparable, but even seeing the kid actors grow up between Marshalls and Dutton Ranch reflects the success of each series.

Cade has turned into a pretty decent actor, while Tate is just about as bad he was he was at 10/12 years old.

My issues:

1. In E1, Beth said it would be cheaper to move to Texas and buy a new ranch than to rebuild. How? Their land was paid for (see Yellowstone) and I am sure they had insurance for the structures and animals.

2. I thought Rip said they were 10 miles from the Border? Did I hear that wrong? I have a place in Webb County and if it looked half as green as the Dutton Ranch, I would have retired there instead of Limestone County.

3. The Rib and I laughed at Beth's drive from "South Texas" to Dallas and back.
When the truth comes out, do not ask me how I knew.
Ask yourself why you did not.

I believe Everett (Ed Harris) said they were 70 miles from the border last episode. But we know that won't really matter down the line if the story line needs them to be closer.

Right? But like the entire mechanism of digging the trench ans shooting and what not seems like a Taylor Sheridan fever dream.

i couldnt even make it through the opening scene, with Rip letting his wife and son fend for themselves in a wildfire so that he could rescue a single calf.

Sheridan fatigue. the writing is just so bad.
i'm sorry i dont laugh at the right times.
