I dunno. I appreciate that the show has some plot direction now

It was never gonna work with them as a small operation trying to take down the big one.

At least now there's some clarity about where the show is going and how Beth and rip are working together etc

Just watched EP6. Almost seems like I missed an episode (but I haven't).

Yeah, weird episode. Something pretty significant happened last episode and not even directly addressed in this episode (barely indirectly discussed).

I'm just 10 minutes in and feel like whoa when did a bunch of **** take place that we are here.

Edit after watching more: good gosh Annette Benning is awful in this episode (way too much overacting trying to be "Texan"). Did love how they slipped in referencing the O'Connors in the Chicago meeting,

More than one plot hole in this episode.

Everett just woke up at the 10Petal & we never saw him even arrive?

Where did Carter and Oreana go when they were at the lake and she said they had somewhere to be?

Rip takes Joaquin to Everetts house and just leaves him there?

Oreana didn't have anywhere to be she was just making excuses to ditch Carter after he love bombed her.

Everett was banging the old lady that's why he was there. A prior relationship history has been hinted at and that confirms it.

David Nuno just did a long interview with Marc Menchaca (Zachariah) on TexAgs Live this morning. Good interview, I recommend giving it a listen.

Fishing off the back of the wake boat was bad, but also, does Carter not own a swimsuit? I mean, come on, kid was wearing Wranglers and a long-sleeve button-up. On a boat? Ain't no way Carter is hooking up with Oreana.

I'd venture to guess that Rip hasn't owned or worn a swimsuit his entire life either.

My roommate was hooking up with a country girl for a few months that he met at the Chicken and we invited her to hang out at the pool at our complex. She said hell no because she hadn't even worn a pair of shorts in over three years. After she said that I realized I hadn't seen her in anything other than starched jeans and boots in the 2 months I knew her

Well, did the roommate at least see her in less than starched jeans and boots?

Her over the top accent and over exaggerated head nodding and fake laugh just make her a joke. And that hat just doesn't look right on her, especially with the glasses. They'd have been better off bring Pam out of Urban Cowboy for the role.

It sounds like she has stuck a roll of cotton in her upper gum when she talks. It's very odd. They have made her too cartoonish with all the crap she wears.

Is beulah an alcoholic I feel like they're setting her up to be one because her voice gets super slurred when she's drinking.

It could also be a **** accent.

I had a few issues with this episode.

Are we supposed to believe that's young Beulah from the 90s? Because that Ford pickup was from the 90s. But the clothes and music were not.

Also, Beulah was dressed like an absolute clown for her party.

Yep, that was ready for going straight to being the rodeo bull riding clown

I was thinking 80s. But I don't know Ford pickups well enough to place them.

I really expected Beulah was going to renege on turning over the ranch, rather than giving it to the bad son so easily.

I've been to many "parties" in Texas from back yard ditch diggers having a family celebration to oil company executives and classmate filthy rich company founders. Never been to one as cheesy as they are portraying on this episode. Dang, my little toes even hurt with how bad this is.

I've found the enjoyment of the event was almost always inversely proportional to the wealth (or level of wealth trying to be portrayed)

Just a quick 2 hour drive from South Texas I'm sure.

An acquainance of mine was in this episode and he told me a good while ago that there was a lot wrong with it.

The Billy Bobs Scene was supposed to be Urban Cowboy era, he he showed up with a Period Correct cowboy hat from that era. (For those that are younger, the crowns were a lot taller on cowboy hats than they are now)

However, the Californians that are in the costume department were not aware of this, a cowboy hat is a cowboy hat to them. It happens a lot. I've had issues with them on other subjects as well. It happens. So, most of the cowboy hats in Billy Bobs were entirely wrong for the time period.

The young guy that young Beula was dancing with was a poor mans, Scott Glenn from Urban Cowboy. There was even a dude in fishnet shirt in one scene, just like Glenn wore. Also, his hat was way.....WAY wrong.

Riding the horses to the party was corny.

A party for a ranch like that would be massive, The Governor ertc would likely be there. This one came up short.

It was very Urban Cowboy-esque.

I do appreciate how they were able to completely dismiss the hundreds of miles between South Texas and Billy Bob's/Temu-Scott-Glenn's trailer for them to just hoof it back and forth.

Oreana walking around with her chi-chis pushed up like a Ren Fest wench made me and my wife giggle. I agree with what she told Carter though. Boy needs to quit walking around like a love struck goober and be more of an Alpha. Be more like Rip son and you will have to fight the ladies off. Him stumbling out of the office with the mount was an iditotic scene.
